Re: I have a miserable cold. Need tips.
I discovered by accident really, that the pur-sleep vapor clear sinus blaster works wonders to open up my congestion, clear as a bell too! I use it most every night. Just a drop of "clear" (scented oil) that has some menthol in it onto the little pad on the little stand....put that right up next to the air intake and WALA! In just a few minutes everything opens right up. If you havent done it already, look it up on pur-sleep.com under CPAP desensitation. You can order it right from there. Works wonders for me, anyway.

Re: I have a miserable cold. Need tips.
I found that I needed to use a Nasal Mask and give the nasal pillows a rest when my nose was really sore from my cold. For me, I used a touch more humidity and I got a prescription for Astepro nasal spray - has a little bit of antihistimine in it. I also use AYR nasal gel inside my nostrils and that really helped with the sorness. If my nose is really badly clogged, I have used Afrin but only for 3 days or so. I have never had any rebound or after affects from it yet. I also have AYR nasal rinse - it comes with a plastic bottle and saline packets that you mix with very warm water. I did need an antibiotic this last time - turned out to be more than a cold and lasted 2 weeks. First it was in my sinus, then my throat and then we ended with a urinary tract infection. I do think that my cpap helped by giving me the humidity that I need - especially now that we are in heating season - it's getting cold here in NJ!
Hope you are feeling better very soon.
Best regards,
Jersey Girl

Wondering how you are feeling now, and, if you've successfully weathered your first cold with the machine--if you have any tips to share.
I'm DREADING my first cold with the machine. So far (10 months now--I think it is a record!) I haven't had a cold (knock wood), so I'm not sure what the heck I will do. My thought is to move to the recliner with a FF mask and crank up the heated humidity (run the S1 in classic humidifer mode) as high as I can tolerate.
I sneezed in my pillow mask the other day, and all I can say is EWWWWW! Fortunately, it wasn't a bad sneeze, but I can just imagine when it is . . .

Re: I have a miserable cold. Need tips.
I am not really sure what I have. I think now it might just be a sinus thing. I get achy like the flu then I feel better for a while then back and forth. I am miserable. The nettie pot helps and so does the cloreseptic spray. I can barely talk. If t was just a cold I should be getting better.Janknitz wrote:Wondering how you are feeling now, and, if you've successfully weathered your first cold with the machine--if you have any tips to share.
