Hi, I have just completed my third night on CPAP therapy.
I am sure this topic has been covered before, but I could not locate anything...
Apparently I have been taking my mask off while sleeping, and discarding it on the floor or in the bed, sometimes with many peices taken off. I dont recall doing any of this, but wake up finding my mask removed.
has anyone else experienced this? Will I stop doing that?
thank you for any advice

unaware I am taking my mask off at night...
Re: unaware I am taking my mask off at night...
Lots of us have experienced it. It is a very common reaction in the early days. Most of us stop discarding the mask soon. Honestly, if you are making it through a good part of the night each night the first week, that's great, and it's enough for the present. You would be amazed how easy and natural it can seem after a few months.

I only take if off if I am congested or the hose has popped off before and I didn't want to wake the wife trying to fix it.
But I have learned that she would rather I fix it then sleep with it off, so from now on I have to fix it.

LOL I have just completed my 13 th year on CPAP and I still wake up with it off and have no re-collection of doing it. One day I am hoping to find it out the windowHi, I have just completed my third night on CPAP therapy.

Thank you - Haha, I suspect I will sub-conciously stomp that mask to pieces one night! Or yah - I will find it out the window.
Good to know I will hopefully get used to it.
Thank you all for the responses

Some reasons you might be taking that mask off are -
Adjust your mask at the highest pressure each nite BEFORE bed.
Adjust the straps while laying down and turn over to see if they hold a seal.
Sleep as long as you can with the mask. If you have troubles, don't worry if you remove the mask just go back to sleep but mark what happened in your notebook in the morning.
Repeat all over again each nite.
Good Luck.
- not getting enuff air
- leaks or something else waking you up
