What do you call yours?

Post by Twentysix » Sun Nov 14, 2010 9:12 pm

Generally I'm not a person to use nicknames for people, which is by the way a bit of a problem here in Oz, cause they tend to either abbreviate or lengthen your name depending on the original (Nicholas will be Nick, while Nick will become Nicko ). Anyway, in an attempt to make friends with 'the machine' I decided it needed a better name than either S9 or CPAP machine. So I call it the snoozer.
Anyone nickname theirs?

I don't really feel anything towards the machine itself, but the mask feels very personal to me. I tried out several names for him. (Definitely a 'he'.) I have finally settled on Mr. Mask. Not original, but it makes me giggle.

Snuffleupagus or Snuff. I can't post what it was called in the beginning though.

My wife calls it my "breathe machine" since that's what it does. It helps me breathe. And it makes more sense to others than saying "CPAP or BiPAP or ASV". Not very creative, but it communicates the idea fairly readily to others.

Kaa --- the snake from The Jungle Book since the hose in its cozy feels like a stuffed toy snake and Kaa hypnotizes Mogli into sleeping ....

Quite some time ago someone on this forum said that they had a family member selling older large mouse pads with logos for sleep apnea on them. I wanted one to help mute sounds with my machine.

It is a good size (machine and humidifier fit on it with a border).

It says on it, "Wind Rider" - taming the night". So I call my machine "Wind Rider" or "Windy" for short.

In our home we name many inanimate things. Our current vehicle is named "Rusty" since it is a rusty colour. The name of the colour is "Sunburst Orange" but our neighbour said it was a rusty colour so it stuck.

Oh, yeah, this thread is about naming cpap machines not cars and other things!!!
