silicone earplugs+cause of nose plugging?

Post by Quilter2 » Mon Nov 01, 2010 11:34 am

Hi,

I have used Mac's earplugs for over 20 years.
Use them stuffed down the ear canal as far as they will go. When they begin to loosen the slightest bit ,pull them out--dry out inner ear and push them in again.
I know this isn't the way they are to be used.
Could it be,due to my great plugging technique, I am actually the cause of my nose congestion (unable to breathe?).
Those eustachian tubes are connected to the sinus and etc. It seems logical....
I tried last nite, with no ear plugs, I could breathe all night long. But I am under the 24 hour sudafed.
I am so touchy- I can hear a clock ticking 2 rooms away, blah, blah, blah... I did wear headset w/ story part of the time.

Has anyone else thought about this?

Thanks, Jeanie

I dont think so
seems you are hypersensitive to sound, this is usually a stress problem
a netti pot or several things asvertised on the net will flush mucus from nostrils and sinuses
australian, anxiety and insomnia, a CPAP user since 1995, self diagnosed after years of fatigue, 2 cheap CPAPs and respironics comfortgell nose only mask. not one of my many doctors ever asked me if I snored

I often sleep with one earbud listening to my iPod (NOT the apple earbud--those suckers HURT!). And I can feel some eustacion/sinus pressure from it, which is one of the reasons I don't sleep with TWO earbuds in.

You might try some white noise like a fan or a sound machine to mask the little sounds in your room so you can sleep without earplugs.

I sleep with wax earplugs and have not encountered any problems yet, none that I did not have before the APAP anyway.

Thanks.

Had sleep Dr. appt., she says has NOTHING to do with congestion. I am super touchy over everything realted to this pursuit. Have not given up one single time since Sept. I still am wide awake adjusting things every night typically 4-6 times. I'm tired.

The best sleep is the naps I have been able to take.

Jeanie
