Well, this thread made me start thinking. I'm nearly 6 years postmenopausal and a week and a 1/2 ago I had some bleeding - never a good thing after menopause!
I have a doctor's appt this week about it, so I'll mention that I've been on Cpap since May.

Wow, glad you're feeling that good despite all your recent health issues!

I read somewhere that REM sleep is connected with some hormone production in the body so wondering if that could be whats causing this? I will ask my doctor at my next appointment but have feeling he will not know the answer or look at me like i'm crazy LOL.

Has anyone else notcied anything at all different?
I apologize if I'm chiming in inappropriately since I'm a male. However, I experienced very crazy, overly-prolific dreams for quite a while after starting CPAP. I think that particular symptom was a function of REM rebound because I must have essentially been REM deprived before CPAP. I hadn't noticed ANY dreams for years before CPAP. My overly-prolific dream mentation/awareness eventually stabilized, and now I occasionally notice dreams. I think that latter state probably reflects a much more normal dream frequency for me.

Good luck, boosmum... back to the ladies.

Hope you don't mind another guy chiming in:

There is some research on hormonal levels and xPAP therapy showing that testosterone levels go up after a few months. The hypothalamus (part of the hormone regulation system) really does need quality sleep to function correctly. I'm pretty sure that everybody's hormonal balance is going to change somehow (hopefully for the better!!) when on xPAP, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it can affect menstrual cycles as well.

My skin is a lot oilier now too, among other things...

I did not notice any changes...but I came off of 5 years depot shots because my doctor said not to continue them because they can cause loss of bone density. So, I had a mirena iud inserted that also has some hormone in it (I used to get terribly heavy periods and the depot magically took them away!) Now, I am getting night sweats, so I wonder, could I be entering the wonderful world of menopause? How old were you when you knew that you were officially in menopause? (I am only 48!)

Regards to all,

Jersey Girl

I started menopause round age 37, had my last kid at 39, by 45 I had a hysterectomy in order to return to normal life.
