Quattro headgear question

Post by ugogirl » Sun Oct 31, 2010 5:57 pm

I have 2 Quattro masks. One I used at my titration. When I got it I was told the headgear is a Large (even though my mask is a Small) because that was all they had. The second one was from the DME: Small size mask w/Large headgear. That was all they had and since it worked well before, they didn't see a need to change it. Lately I've been having a lot of leaks which interrupts my sleep. I think it's because of the headgear.

Does the Quattro have corresponding headgear sizes? I'm going to call the DME tomorrow to see when I'm eligible for new headgear.

the standard headgear comes with all sizes I believe - there is a small version available but isn't packaged with the small mask - needs to be obtained separately -the word small is on the label

Thanks Jules,I saw that the small headgear was 31.00 on cpap.com. I will see what the DME says. The problem I'm having with the headgear is that the top strap slides up and the mask loosens. If I pull the straps down far enough, the lower straps dig in the sides of my neck. I'll probably have to try it on. Don't know what the difference is in size measurement.

I will see if I can find my standard headgear - I know where the small it - it is on the mask.

I know the difference in the liberty headgear but not this one.

The DME gave me Medium headgear with the Micro and the Quattro, the tech said the small was a bit smallish.I never got to try it on.
I have been planning to make one a tad smaller on my sewing machine. I wish they made half sizes in the masks. Small is too big; extra small is not big enough. A small-minus might just work.

The headgear that came with the Med Quattro is labeled "Medium". It was never used but the Small headgear has been as I knew to order the small headgear when I got the mask.

Under triangle in back - triangles appear to be about the same size (again one has been stretched)

Band under triangle is shorter on the small - Med: 1 3/4 inch wide band in back Small: around 1 inch.

Top Strap - For the small it is about 1/2 inch shorter and the strap itself is slightly narrower at the triangle area. The velcro piece is also slightly shorter.

Bottom straps are about an inch shorter on each side for the Small one. Strapa are also slightly narrower.

I folded the mask in half and compared them for the straps measurements.

I always order the small Quattro and the small headgear. The medium comes standard so you have to specify you want the small headgear or you won't get it. I found this out the hard way when they changed it and I received the medium headgear and small mask. They charged insurance for new headgear even though it was their fault they didn't inform me of the change. I know better now.
