From what I've read, it can also be indicative of fundamental problems with the central nervous system. Patients with Parkinson's Disease often develop dysregulation of sleep. Ditto, I fear with Sporadic OPCA. Essentially any disorder that involves the brain stem can cause dysregulation of sleep. Ditto on disorders that interfere with proper transmission of signals to and from the brain. I've read patients with MS can also have problems with sleep.

So, it's not just mental illness. It can be a warning sign. But it is not a conclusive symptom.

Which came first - the chicken or the egg?

Eh, you can't trust these "shrink" doctors. They're desperate to get insurance coverage parity w/physical illnesses.

My computer says I need to upgrade my brain to be compatible with its new software.
