Comfort curve nasal interface

Post by littlered » Wed Nov 23, 2005 5:06 pm

I'm looking for a mask that is quiet. I'm using the nasal swift pillow and boy is it loud. How loud is the comfort curve nasal interace?

thanks,

Littlered

I disagree with the above poster, I personally think the CC is VERY quiet. I have always used that but my dad wanted to try it out one night so I used my swift and well it was soooo loud compared to the CC. Only if you have issues with the elbow joints leaking or making a a fuss will it be loud.

My Comfort Curve is the quietest mask I own, so that puts me in the same camp as MissAmethyst2U. My other mask are the ResMed Activa and the ResMed Ultra.

I find my CC is a very quiet mask. I did have to wrap the elbow connectors with teflon plumbing tape early on but the new CC I just got doesn't seem to have that same issue. I amazed how quiet the exhaust is, even if something gets near it- it seems to soften the exhaust flow so that its not blasting out like some other masks.

I have to agree with the majority of the posts here. My Comfort Curve is very quiet. I have 3 other masks and I have to say that the Comfort Curve is the quietest.

Remember, any mask that doesn't fit you will leak, and leaks are loud.

littlered,

As far as the perceived noise level of cpap masks or machines you will find that it is a personal matter. As you can see on this thread, you will get opinions all over the map. My guess is that the relative volume and frequency is perceived as "loud" or "not loud" based on the particular auditory senses of each individual.

So, unfortunately the most accurate way to answer your question is to personally experience each interface.

Sincerely,

This is probably the most important issue with the Comfort Curve and any other mask.

In my case, I found I needed to employ the MoleSkin trick and study the design of the mask to get it under control so that it would be stabile as I flop back and forth from one side to the other. This need to understand the mask design is important because Respironics doesn't do a good job of communicating how the mask should be adjusted so it is up to the user to figure out the sequence of how the mask should be adjusted and what the adjustment do the mask stability. At some point I'll write up a set of adjustment instruction and post them on the forum.

With all that said, I really like how small, quiet and comfortable this mask is in comparison to my other interfaces.
