6th week... lowest AHI yet
6th week... lowest AHI yet
Just got around to looking at last night's data... AHI of 0.33 -- my lowest to date! Slept almost 9 hours, too...... nice! Still awaiting the energy boost, but just learned this week that my vitamin D is super low (33). Taking lots of D3 a day now to try to get it up into the range my doc wants.... between 60-80. This should help with energy if I can improve the levels soon. From what I hear, it isn't easy to do or maintain. I'll be retested for my level at the end of Dec. Patience is becoming a learned skill.......
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

Congrats on that AHI.
And good luck in finding that energy you're missing.
Getting the vitamin D levels back up should help too. Two or three years ago some blood work showed that my vitamin D levels were a bit low (not as low as yours) and my PCP recommended that I take a 1000 IU vitamin D pill each day and also try to get 10--15 minutes of sun (without sunscreen) whenever the sun actually decides to show its face here in Buffalo. Both did wonders for how I was feeling at the time.

Re: 6th week... lowest AHI yet
Thanks, robysue.... I am taking 50,000 IU's a week using my micellized (liquid) vitamin D3. I have a good friend who had a level of 40 and she went on 50k IU's a week for two months and is now in maintenance mode with 10k IU's a week. We'll see what happens. If my vitamins don't work, the doc said she would get me a pharmaceutical grade Rx of D3. Not sure how that is any better, but time will tell.
I live in the 'sunshine state,' yet I know so many Floridians with vitamin D deficiencies...even among those who are avid outdoor athletes. I read about a study done on a large group of Hawaiians who also spend much time outside and were still deficient. Sure is a stubborn vitamin to absorb!

Well one modern day problem with vitamin D absorbtion is the current focus on slathering on sunscreen to prevent skin cancer. I'm not saying that folks should quit using sunscreen: Skin cancer is serious and using sunscreen does reduce the risks of developing skin cancer. But if you always have sunscreen on when you're outside in the sun, then you are preventing your body from absorbing what it needs to manufacture its own vitamin D.I live in the 'sunshine state,' yet I know so many Floridians with vitamin D deficiencies...even among those who are avid outdoor athletes.
