Mouth breathing question
Re: Mouth breathing question
I think that for the most part the sleep study and titration will get you really close, but some tweeks can definately improve things. With me they were minor changes until I found a sweet spot that was close but different with marked improvement. I did tell the sleep doc. My sleep doc was worried that I would raise the pressure too high but once I told him the changes he was in total agreement.

Re: Mouth breathing question
It is my contention that you will never find rest with out finding a good sleep doc and being 100% compliant.
It is also my contention that most people on this board were victems of CPAP factories and got very lucky in respects to treating themselves after wards. People that failed to treat themselves returned to another sleep lab which was not a CPAP factory and received optimal treatment.
They can't be with us to post on this board as they are busy sleeping.

Re: Mouth breathing question
I have no problem tolerating the machine...in fact I seem to fall asleep faster now because I am not really paying attention to the TV now when I lay down. My issue is the leaking in the eyes. Breathing with the 12 pressure isn't bad at all now that I am adjusted to it. At first I felt like was skydiving and my lips and cheeks were being blown to kingdom come....now it's nothing. My nose was somewhat clear last night so I tried the nose mask again (i need to look at the package to see what kind it is.) I slept for about 7 hrs with it on last night. I really need to order the software. The machine now shows that my AHI has gone down to 4.2 for 7days. I believe yesterday it was 4.9 and the night before was 5.2(??). I didn't wake up with a headache this morning and am in a good mood. Still feel tired but not like I haven't slept in weeks like I do some mornings.
Added: Nasal mask is a Mirage Activa....also ordering the software after I update this post. I assume it's not a download but the send a disc.
