The place to take your card at the hospital is wherever the sleep docs see their daily appointments, which may or may not be near the sleep lab. The techs there should be more than glad to download data and print reports for on of their students.

there ya go, someone should help you with that card.. great idea!

thanks so much for the advice and help i will start using your techniques imediately.

i also use a nasal spray and i wake up in the middle of the night with a congested nose....what should i do about that?

do you have seasonal allergies? I have found taking an allegra D is most helpful if you have allergies, maybe you could get some
samples of those as they are expensive..

I noticed when I tried the nasal sprays woke up that way too, and it seemed whatever side I was lying on was the side that was blocked..

so if you wake up, maybe you should switch sides.. also lots of folks here reccomend neti pots which is a nasal rinse before bed, and my doc
suggested doubling the dose on the nasal spray and even using two different kinds.. one steroid, one not.. but i bet you can make buddies with
one of the docs and get some good advice..

is your spray a steroid? I understand those take a few days to kick in and you have to use them daily..

My congestion is gone now..

also I got my humidifier going pretty wet, like a rain forest, and that actually made me more congested, so I quit using it.. but Im near the ocean..

you get some sleep okay?

edit to add: hey if you can hang out around the sleep lab a bit and get to know some of the folks and offer up your services as a guinea pig, or
have some mutual trade you can do things for each other.. that might be helpful... might you go into sleep medicine? Perhaps you could
ask to attend part of a sleep study or titration..

I'm still not 100% sure this isn't a well set-up troll and I wouldn't necessarily spend a lot more earnest time on it unless they come back, and with the requested info.

I will fill in profile tonight. I used the tape and I feel slightly better. But I think the software will tell me in depth

Why don't you take your card down to you DME and ask them to print you up a report? That's what I do.

You don't need the software go by symptoms. If your mouth gets dry as a desert and you are still sleepy and fatigued in the day or if you have frequent awakenings especially at 2 hour intervals then your mouth is probably coming open. Don't tape your mouth shut what if you got sick you could not throw up that is not the answer they make chinstrap that can help just ask for one where you get your machine and masks. Also if your pressure is higher than 10 or 11 cm most people do have the problem with the mouth blowing open. Many people do best on a full face mask and they can be very comfortable. I work in a sleep clinic and what I do is solve pt cpap usage problems. The most successful mask we are seeing with our patients is the new Fit Life mask but the headgear is too stretchy so it doesn't stabilize the mask well so we order another headgear made by Hans Rudolph company called the V2 full headgear. It works great and comfortably stabilizes the mask. Another good mask is the quattro full face mask. There are many styles. I would recommend you contact your home are company or sleep center to get help. With sizing and fitting the mask as well.

This is a great forum and I am very thankful for the awesome advice I receive from here

The reason I want a software is so I can check every day my data and not travel 45 minutes to talk to the DME. I do not have time for that as I am around some very complex testing due for my 3rd year of med school. Time is a all important factor for me. Without the software I'm left guessing. I am not allowed to sleep more the 4 hours because I have to get up and study. I understand the poor sleep time is what hurts my energy levels by I want to be sure I'm getting near perfect therapy. I have learned about sleep disorders in my 2nd year of med school and they simply kill you. It's the easiest answer I can give. I have friends that are in sleep medicine and they are very suportive but I just need this software

Well, Christmas is coming.... seriously, if you can't afford to buy it, you can wish all you want, it isn't going to magically appear on your doorstep! If you have 'friends in sleep medicine' why aren't you asking them to read your data card for you? Surely they have access to the software! OR.... are you not being forthright with your colleagues about your condition and want to hide it from them? I certainly hope your instructors know about your condition, and when you become a Resident and need to pull 36 hrs straight, what are you going to do? Will you have your cpap machine at the hospital so you can use it during your crash time?

Personally, I think it is awful what med students have to endure during their Residency. BUT.... when healthy Residents are sleep deprived it is bad enough.... one with a sleep disorder on top of those grueling hours is dangerous. Think about your patients..... I would not want to be one of them if you are in total brain fog and not functioning normally.

I have told them and they try to help me as much as they can. But my time schedule and their are way off. I don't even get to go out with my friends for a beer because I don't have money or time. On my 21 st birthday. I had to study. No one else even had time to call me to tell me happy birthday. I'm not looking for sympathy. I just want to make sure my schedule is way overtook by study. My dad is a neurosurgeon and my mom is is MD in pediatrics. Due to problems with me and my parents I do not talk to them for over 2 years. Asking for money or Christmas presents are out of the question....

I don't know. I guess I'll just give up on trying to find software for cheaper... Maybe next year when I get more student loan money I'll be able to get some

I agree. He has spent more time saying he is broke and not providing the requested info. How hard is it to follow simple directions.

I guess he really is in med school. He has learned to not listen to anything we have said.

Well, having worked for neurosurgeons for years, I now absolutely believe that you've been expected to manage on your own too often... it just goes with the territory and if you're still hanging in there, good for you! The software isn't everything you know, many of us get along without it, though I can understand your wanting to follow your progress. At least your machine lets you get the basics, if not the rest. Are you very sure we can't help with things otherwise?
