More DME Games update. Rx received!!!

Post by Sal_In_Ga » Sat Sep 25, 2010 6:44 pm

Today I received the Rx for my S9 in the mail, written as the nurse had said: " S9 Cpap Autoset machine and supplies set @ 9cm Dx 327.23", and with actual Dr.'s signature.
I may now have a bit too much confidence for my own good . LOL Can't help but think to my self, "I'm on a roll. What can I conquer next?"

Fantastic! I'm stunned that more people don't advocate for themselves when it comes to healthcare.

You said a mouthful there, jmcd!!! It boggles my mind the people that just passively accept what their doctor says, never question anything .....

We are conditioned from birth that the Dr. is the authority in all things related to health. Our parents take us to the Dr. when we are but weeks old, we are examined and pronounced healthy. Then we go every few months and are checked and immunized because that's what the Dr. said we must do. Then when we are sick we go again to the Dr. who examines us and gives medication with directions for taking it, and instruction to return in a month, etc., etc, etc. This continues throughout our childhood and into adulthood. All we really know is that we hurt or we feel bad and the Dr. can fix it. With the advent of technology, the computer, and the internet we are better equipped to research that which sparks our interest. Not everyone is aware of, or curious about, the computer and its potential for educating ourselves. Others are fearful of the machine and its technology and find it difficult to give it a try. (Give what a try?)

I don't recall how I came to this forum 3yr. ago, but I do know that I had no clue about sleep medicine, DME's, CPAP machines, masks, insurance, and on, and on, and on. I imagine that everyone here has at one time or another experienced the same. I am so thankful that I found you all, and that you are so willing to share what you have learned with patience for those of us who have (had) no clue.
