What is your humidity set at
Hi
I have been using my CPAP for about 3 months now and have been getting a stuffy nose during the day could my humidifier be set too high at night it is set to 4 and my pressure is set to 13, I also have suffer from post nasal drip at night. one other thing I am a side sleeper and still can't get totally used to sleeping with my mask is anyone using any of those special pillows to get comfortable? if so, what kind of pillow and where did you purchase it?
Thanks

My DME suggested I start out with a setting of 2. It gave me a stuffy nose. Tuned it down to 1 and still had a stuffy nose. I now use it in pass over only which is perfect for me.

three.
Higher is too wet; lower makes me stuffy.

I use my humidifier in pass over mode most of the year and I set it at 1 or 2 during the winter ( November to end of March). I am in Ontario (Canada) so the humidity would be similar in New Jersey I owuld guess.
Humidity settings often depend on the relative humidity in your area and in your home.
About the specialty cpap pillows I don't know much. I am a back sleeper of necessity (arthritis pain) and use a contour memory foam pillow. With that pillow, my jaw is tilted up from my chest as I sleep, and that helps keep my airway open. If I use a regular flat pillow, my jaw will drop onto my chest while I am sleeping and cause problems with the airway. The contour pillow also aligns my neck well and helps my painful shoulders. Being a back sleeper means very few problems with the mask being shifted by a pillow which I expect can be a problem for side sleepers and so they might get the specialty cpap pillows. I would think a contour pillow like mine would help with mask shiftting and could also keep the chin up for side sleepers too though.

As high as it will go. Less humidity means more congestion for me.

I use Flonase for allergies before I go to bed. I am okay setting the H5i humidifier at 2. So far, no rainout at that setting. I use the SlimLine hose, not the heated one.

No heat here. I've used "passover" mode since I started therapy......year round. The cool air keeps my nasal passages open.

Pillow mask: winter=max setting, rest of yr at mid-point
Hybrid mask: winter=30% or so (setting of 2? can't remember the numbers, just the dial position), rest of the yr=passover unless I'm having allergy/congestion issues then I need more humidity

Most of the time, passover mode only. I have been trying to bump it up a little more to see what would happen. 1 is okay, BUT when I tried a setting of 2 I had the worst night in 4 months.
Can raising the humidity cause more events to happen? Before trying it at 2 I had not had an apnea event in 3 months only hypopneas at an average AHI of 1 or 2.

Hi--I keep my humidifier at two. I live in Arizona so I need some humidity but too much as it will cause me to have a stuffy nose too. Pillow for me is my Down Filled Queen size one from Costco. You get 2 in a pack for 39 bucks!! LOVE IT! Have tried all kinds too--memory foam, ones that are shaped for your neck etc---I am strictly a side sleeper too. The down filled ones are so easy to shape around your mask etc----and are completely machine washable. Try one of these before you buy the expensive "cpap" pillows.
Good Luck!

My humidifer is set to 2 and sometimes 3 and my pressures are 17/30 and I use a vpap machine with oxygen concentrator. As far as the pillow I was looking at the papillow. You can find it at papillow.com. I have not bought one yet because I always check all the reviews to see how it works for others and most people swear by the papillow. It is very expensive, I think it is around $65.00 or something like that. Everyone says it is worth every penny.snorebegone wrote:Hi

Set to 0 spring, summer and fall. Set to 1 in winter and not for the moisture, just the heat as I keep my room without heat in the winter. The air is too cold to breathe comfortably. Not a lot of need for humidity in Arkansas, we have plenty of that.

I use passover in the summer months and a setting of 1-2 in the winter. I have a pap pillow use it sometimes and use a feather pillow that I can mold into the shape I want at times too. I do like my pap pillow.
