ResMed Exhaust Vent

I've attempted to use a CPAP now for over two years, without success. In a final attempt to make this work, I changed to a new and "better" mask, the Resmed Full Face Mirage Ultra. After wearing the mask a few times, over a 90 day period, I realized there was too little pressure in the mask when I exhaled. I discovered the mask was missing the small rubber exhaust vent. I replaced the vent and now feel as though I am breathing in too much C02; struggling for enough air. Can anyone offer me some advise? I hate the Apria Health Care office that sold me the mask. Does anyone have a good source in Denver,CO?

What pressure is your machine set on? Under what circumstances do you feel like you are breathing in too much CO2? The more modern Ultra Mirage masks have an anti-asphyxia valve, so even if the machine is connected and not blowing, you still shouldn't feel like you can't get enough air. I think the older masks didn't have that valve, and if yours doesn't, you can buy an elbow piece with the anti-asphyxia valve.

The rubber piece that you installed, it does have holes in it, right, and you have not blocked those holes in any way? Can you feel air coming out of it at a pretty good force, even when you inhale?


There are so many things we can't see about what you are doing, but I will just comment that if you flip the hose to run it overhead, you come pretty close to blocking the holes in the vent. Well, at least I do, because I have a bunch of insulation on my hose.

Don't go back there. I haven't ever used them, but when my sleep doctor inquired about which DME I wanted, I told him, "not Lincare, and not Apria." He just nodded.

What machine do you have and what pressure is it set to?
There are numerous posts on this forum and there are other websites that list the instructions for getting into the setups and configurations.
