I fell asleep during daytime while....

Post by Junebug999 » Sun Sep 19, 2010 5:52 pm

I'd like to hear your I fell asleep during daytime while.....stories..

Here's mine. This happened in 2002. And concerned my doc (now retired) so much she ordered a sleep test.

In 2002 I fell alseep at an indoor pistol range (was with some law enforcement friends). I fell asleep and took a nap with my friends shooting 45 mm pistols about 30 feet away.

You win!!
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

I agree with Emilia, you win! No one will be able to top that!

I already told mine earlier today. I fell asleep every day in analytical chemistry....but then, who wouldn't? Most boring chemistry class I ever took!

At a red light...never did that before, freaked me out even more than I already was while waiting for the date of my sleep study to roll around, had scared myself silly reading about OSA online

I know....if it weren't "sad" it would be funny. You know though how you fall asleep at movies, and church and ...wel just about everywhere...haha.....i wasn't trying to "win" though...thought maybe other people might have fallen asleep places also......kidding aside, falling alseep is dangerous. We lost a gal on the midnight shift about 15 years ago. She worked mid shift, then got off early sunday morning and went to church. coming home from church she dozed at the wheel.....so we do have to be careful driving....i always take decongestant when driving, and if i need a nap, i pull into a parking lot of a local police dept or highway patrol office and nap in the car. I have to drive 4 hours to get to my sis's out in the desert and i always have to time it just right so i'm as awake as i can be if driving alone : )

I'm not sure if I can top the first one either, but about 10 years ago I was dozing off in the dentist's chair while having a root canal.

you know the words "analytical chemistry" just make you want to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

sleeping through root canal though? hon, i think that takes first place....definitely!

falling asleep driving is really scary though....we lost a gal about 15 years ago....she worked midnight shift in a records dept of a police dept. she got off in the morning...it was sunday and went to church....then on way home from church...she fell asleep driving (they think) and went through a red light.

i have fallen asleep just dozing where my wheels hit the curb, but now if i'm tired i'll dance, turn on AC until im icy and sing loud with the radio. there are days i will not drive though...last sunday i was walking into walls and would not even drive 2 miles to get to Mass.

nodding off where people laugh at you is embarrassing....i've worried about that when called for jury duty, but i've not had to be on the jury so it didn't matter.

I have no daytime sleep stories, but I do have some for my husband!

He fell asleep on a chartered bus coming home from a football game.. it was filled with very loud inebriated football fans with big coolers..

The bus caught fire.. He slept through the evacuation.. he was sitting in the front seat behind the driver.. the driver had everone evacuate
rear to front.. the fans were yelling, bumping coolers into the seats.. finally, I said.. "Honey, the bus is on fire, we have to leave now."

He also fell asleep at a red light..

I can go on and on..... he falls asleep everywhere.. I have a new hobby of taking photos of him sleeping in odd places with my iphone..

Well, since I know I can't top any of these stories for real, I'm going to take some license and be creative.

I fell asleep momentarily while...
Landing the Pope's helicopter in a hail storm on a carrier in choppy seas off the coast of Kuwait in 1991...

Someone else's turn to be creative.

True though: I have an uncle who can fall asleep in 10 seconds while standing up (leaning against something). He learned to do it in the Navy.

At the wheel.
In a store parking lot and woke up 2 hours later.
On the bench at Kroger for 45 min at the end of the checkout lanes the day before Thanksgiving.
During a disability ordered test for memory.
During a meeting I was conducting.
In a doctor's exam room and they were locking me in at the end of the day when I woke up.
During an MRI.
Bus, train, plane.
On a date.

But I must have been sleep deprived most of my adult life, because I remember sleeping through a Jefferson Airplane concert, including the opening act. Woke up briefly during "White Rabbit". (That'll send some of you young folks to Google or youtube )

My wife and I went to a KISS concert 3 weeks after we were married. She fell asleep just 10 minutes in. We were 5th row left (about 50 feet from the speakers). I woke her up for the finale.
