Howdy, LTNS, Disturbing Conversation Tonight

Post by TXKajun » Tue Sep 14, 2010 7:15 pm

Hey, ya'll! How ya'll are?? Yeah, da ol' Kajun is back sayin' hi and checkin' in.

Things are still going well for both Sweetie and me with our little PB Sandman machines and FFMs. But, being the el cheapo I am, I called in on an ad in our local SE NM paper tonight for a CPAP for sale at $200. What an incredible conversation followed!

The person who had the machine had, like so many, a basic machine, a basic nasal mask, no software and was essentially set up for failure. They had been on the hose for 3 years, off and on, and had no positive results, needless to say. So, they now have UPPP surgery scheduled. *shiver*

We talked for a goodly time and I recommended several things and stressed that I wasn't a sleep doc, a sleep tech, or in any way a medical professional. The #1 thing I suggested was that they come right here to cpaptalk dot com and register and read and educate themselves. I shared Sweetie's and my experiences on APAP (which they had never heard of) over the last several years and that right here at our wonderful site, that they could take charge of their therapy and succeed and reclaim their life, possibly. I encouraged them to go ahead and check out all the info here and asked that they go ahead and give either Sweetie or I a call back and talk. I think Sweetie may just give a call to them in a few days to see how it's going.

Johnnie, once again, your site has a chance to make a positive difference to someone's life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for having this site.

All the folks here who contribute and/or encourage folks, thank you in advance for the support ya'll give to all who come here.

I'm going on 5 years APAP therapy now, Sweetie on a year and this stuff works! (check my tag line! LOL)

Anywho, if there is anyone who registers or comes here from SE NM, please welcome them as one of "us".

Kajun

Good to hear from you again! Glad things are going well for you and Sweetie and that you are kindred cpap spirits in wanting to share your success with others. I've called about Craigslist machines before and ended up trying to convince the people to keep their machines and try again. Walked away kicking myself for blowing a fantastic deal, but feeling good about it just the same. Don't stay away so long - your new friend might be looking for you here.

Thanks for the warm welcome back.

So far, no contact other than the initial one. I figure to give them a few days, then call back and see what's up. Like the old saying though, you can lead a horse to water, but ya can't change their spots in midstream.....or something like that.
