New mask

Post by sjb46 » Mon Sep 13, 2010 3:36 pm

Went to a different vendor today and took equipment with me. First of all, the mask I was using was too big! Then she let me try several different maskes so I could make an "informed choice." That didn't happen at the first place. I liked the Mirage Quatro and will be testing it for a week to see how it goes. Also bought a Cpap pillow. Here's hoping.

I've got about a half-dozen masks in the closet that didn't make the cut. One isn't even opened!

Guess I should visit cpapauctions...

Goes to show you what a difference a GOOD DME makes!

There are other threads going about how much DME's charge versus online suppliers, and the reasoning is the service that DME's give. But so few give good service--sometimes they do more harm than good and I wonder how many MORE people would be compliant with CPAP if they got a decent mask fitting and plenty of support to make it work? I bet online suppliers have better stats in that regard becaue by circumstances alone, people who are seeking out online help are not getting that help from a brick and mortar DME, and these are people determined to succeed in spite of a lousy DME.

If all DME's could give a proper fitting and support like your new DME, what different picture this would be!
