comfort gel by PR
ok so i got yet another mask to try out. it's a nasal one. i've got it positioned now that it only hurts the bridge of my nose a little. it leaks only when i lay on my side as i guess i'm pushing on the mask. it's a size medium. i tried the large at the DME and it came too close to my mouth. this one seems okay, now to try to get it to work against the leaks. i decided to give this mask a try as it's similar the one i tried for my titration. even though it hurt the bridge of my nose i don't think it leaked much. the one i tried at the titration was the resmed comfort gel. are they similar? does anyone have experience with these? thanks

I don't think Resmed makes a "Comfort Gel" mask.
Philips Respironics makes that brand. There is the "Original Comfort Gel" and the new revised "Comfort Gel Blue".
The "Original" can be put in warm water and molded to your face. The Comfort Gel Blue CANNOT be molded that way. In fact they warn against doing the warm water fitting with the Comfort Gel Blue.
The Comfort Gel Blue is supposed to fit more people just the way it is. Some people here on the forum have tried both so they may find this thread. Check on cpap.com to read about each one along with the "Customer Reviews" for each of them.
All you can do is try it.

I have two comments to offer:sleepymama wrote:ok so i got yet another mask to try out. it's a nasal one. i've got it positioned now that it only hurts the bridge of my nose a little. it leaks only when i lay on my side as i guess i'm pushing on the mask. it's a size medium. i tried the large at the DME and it came too close to my mouth. this one seems okay, now to try to get it to work against the leaks. i decided to give this mask a try as it's similar the one i tried for my titration. even though it hurt the bridge of my nose i don't think it leaked much. the one i tried at the titration was the resmed comfort gel. are they similar? does anyone have experience with these? thanks
Is there any adjustment between the forehead pad and the mask? If so, can you adjust to "rock" the mask and transfer a little pressure from the bridge of the nose to the upper lip? If not, try putting a pad between your forehead and the normal part that rests against your head and see if that helps.
I thought I had a serious leak when I laid on my side, but after it happened so many times, I realized that the vent was simply blowing the exhaust air into the pillow or sheets making the "escaping air" sound. Just something to double check.
Sleep well and prosper!

i think u may be right. i thought i was leaking but it must of been mild cause i only ended up at a 21.6 leak i think. ahi 2. something. i had a mark on my face but it wasn't too bad for pressure. bridge doesn't hurt. i think it fits okay. the DME said there would be a little leaking but not all the time. is this true?

Hi there,
I just got the comfort gel mask, too and find it impossible to lay on the side (preferred sleeping position) without causing leaks (side area) or having too much pressure on the nose bridge Maybe I still need to figure out a better position but for now I can't sleep that way.
I wonder if there are any masks available supporting sleeping on the side??
Kind regards,
Ace

Just keep tweaking till u get it feeling right. I have not used that mask but starting using the profile lite. Working great for me. I am mostly a side sleeper and made a bit of a discovery that may help u as well. My mask always hurt the bridge of my nose I just could not seem to make it comfertable. But I did all my adjustments like I was sleeping on my back. Now I loosen the top strap so it loose and comfy. I get a slight leak at the top. But when I roll to the side that extra pressure now seals the leak and no more nose pain. My wife agrees this works a very light sleeper so leaks wake her up and my leak rate is within normal limits, plus I feel great.
Give it a try see if it helps.

i don't always sleep my friends, but when I do, beer helps

Resmed now offers a Mirage softgel nasel mask that will fit your opus 360 I started using one 2 weeks ago and find it is much more comfortable than the nasel gel or the regular 360 opus
