I got that message too about the driivers using the ones off the encore pro CD -- I get them for my scanner, I get them for my camera, I get them for about half of what I install and personally I ignore them. But that is only what I do.

Just tried to reinstall. Came to the last which said to "take out any CDs from the drive and click Finish to reboot. Then plug in the device to finish installing." or something to that effect
When I plugged in, all I got was a duh, duh, duh sound. Once when I tried to install it I actually got a little box that recognized the hardware but when the warning about possible harm to computer came up I stopped the final step of installation.. Didn't get that far this time.
Suggestions please. And why do I have Mako listed under All Programs but in a yellow box. What does that mean?
I also opened encorepro first and then plugged in the reader--still nothing.

the yellow box might be since it is a new program to your computer - I have a lot of the gawdy features of XP disabled on mine

another-guest said "do you have the card in the reader?"
No. Nothing indicated that I should. And I don't think I had the card in when it was going to let me finish the install before.

you don't need a card to finish the install but for encore pro to do anything you do

when you put a card in the reader will first show a red light then will switch to green - now mine is back to red - I don't have any data on the card I just put in but you need to be in encore pro to get any data off the card and know it is really working - jmho

The "duh-duh" sound may be a good thing indicating that Windows recognized the device.
What you need to do is check to see if the reader is recognized:
Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel and double-click on System.
Then click on the "Hardware" tab, and then "Device Manager" This will bring up a whole list of devices on your machine.
Look for "Smart card readers"
Click on the little + sign and you should see "Mako DT3500 SmartCard Reader". Double-click on the icon and you should see a window with a message saying "This device is working properly".
If you see this you have been successful.
