Unlocking Respiratory Rate for S9 + ResScan 3.11

Instructions:

1. Close ResScan if it is running.

2. Go to your C:\Program Files\ResMed\ResScan3 directory.

3. Make a backup copy of the file: ResScan.xml

4. Edit the file: ResScan.xml

5. Around line number 4152, in the section describing the Respiratory Rate stuff, you'll see a tag section with these lines:

<FG_DISABLE_LIST>
<!--S9 series FG's-->
<SWID>*S?474*</SWID>
</FG_DISABLE_LIST>

Delete those lines.

6. Save the file.

7. Restart ResScan 3.11 --- no need to re-download from flash -- and voila! There's the respiratory rate.

gvz, it looks like you use the ResMed Oximeter Adapter (or ResLink?) that records pulse rate and oxygen saturation.

Those of us who use the S9 machines but don't have the Oximeter Adapter can see the "Minute Ventilation" graph when we download the detailed data into ResScan. Isn't that the same as the "Respiratory Rate"?

There may have been a number of reasons for them to disable the RR data, maybe through clinical trials they determined that the sensors on the S9 didn't accurately record the RR like they were hoping, or maybe the Reslink data didn't correlate properly. That's just two examples, but I'm sure you are correct, Resmed has intentionally hidden this data from us because they want to make it difficult for us to get the data. This would also be the reason why Resmed leaves their Rescan download site open to the public, because they don't want you to have easy access to your data!!

FYI: Resmed knows the site is open and patients freely download the software for personal use.

I have no problems showing both Minute Ventilation and Respiratory Rate on the same screen.

The program is still under construction, eventually I'll make it into an easy to use program to let people who use Contec pulse oximeters to point+click merge their SPO2 data into ResScan.

I might add a very smart decision for them, I'll bet it's sold many S9 machines for them too. Respironics could learn a little about sales from them. Jim

I'm looking forward to the importing the contec oximeter info. That would be really really nice.

Another thing I would love to see is better control when using the horizontal sliders trying to line up information.
The darn thing jumps in fairly large increments. it is very difficult ( impossible ) the get the red line in the bottom window to stop EXACTLY where you want it.
Don't know if there is a solution for that or not.

Just do not know what to do with the stats
