Need Advice

Post by ancass1 » Fri Nov 11, 2005 2:15 pm

I have been on my CPAP for a year. I had the nasal mask to begin with, I now have a full face mask. My doctor has put me on Lunesta and I still cannot keep the mask on all night. She seems to think that my nose gets stuffed up over night and I take the mask off cause I cannot breath. I am on allergy medications and a nasal spray and I still cannot keep the mask on for more then 2 hours. Has anyone had this problem? If so can anyone give me any other suggestions. Thank you.

Try using the search function located at the top of this page. For keyword, enter: stuffy and nose (all 3 words, just like that: stuffy and nose)and you will be directed to many past threads discussing this topic.

Here's a good one. Click on this:

Are you using a heated humiudifier? That can relieve stuffiness.

1. Try taking your nasal spray at bedtime, then a couple of sprays of saline mist.

2. Nasal irrigation has worked wonders for my stuffiness. One cup warm water, about 1/2 teaspoon salt (without iodine), and a pinch of baking soda. Fill up a rubber bulb thingy (you know what I'm talking about!) and just barely insert it into your nostril. Point the tip towards your ear and squeeze. You can be fairly aggressive, but not too much. Then blow your nose. Do this morning and night. At night I irrigate then use my Flonase. Works like a charm!

I'll have to try the nose thing. I have a humidifier which I use, I just called my doctor to see if I can get my presure up. I haven't slept for 2 nights and I am beyond exhausted and cranky!
