Got my new machine!
This afternoon I returned my S8 Escape II and got my S9 AutoSet!!
I played dumb and asked a couple of questions.
First I asked if since this was an AutoSet would it be varying the pressure, and he replied that no, it was in CPAP mode. He advised me that if I wanted to use it in APAP mode I would have to get a prescription stating that and they would switch the mode for me. Is this true, do you need a prescription for APAP mode? Should I just stick to CPAP mode for now?
Next I asked how to get the data off the card. He said that I have to mail the card to them for the analysis. Now I know that's not true since many of you have the ResScan software.
Overall it was a trouble free visit. Is there any information somewhere about how to access the efficacy data and stuff like that?

Re: Got my new machine!
Congratulations, Joe. You did it!
Since the DME is so slimy, you can't work with them, but if you have a good relationship with your sleep doctor I do recommend that you talk to that doctor about your settings and what changes should be made. As far as data access, go for it--it's YOUR machine and YOUR therapy!
That said, there are no CPAP police who are going to come and get you if you change from CPAP to APAP mode, or any other settings. As you grow in your understanding of therapy and the data, there may be changes you want to make (again, I recommend talking it over with the doc IF the doc will work with you on this).
For now, stick to CPAP mode and see how it goes over a period of a few weeks. If your AHI's aren't great or you are not feeling good, then you can start to look at the data and see what trends there are that might indicate the need for a change.

Re: Got my new machine!
Joe, there are some people who thrive on CPAP, and even after trying APAP, change back to a fixed pressure.
However, I concur with Janknitz whose advice is very well founded. Although you do need a prescription for the DME provider to change from a fixed CPAP pressure to a range of APAP pressures, you may not need to get them involved. You can make the changes yourself after discussing with your doctor.
But give it a few weeks on straight CPAP, and let us know how you're feeling.

Re: Got my new machine!
Yes, I found it! I had totally forgotten. Before I went to bed I downloaded the PDF of the clinical manual to my iPhone, so I'll have it handy at my bedside. I will download ResScan when I get home from work tonight and see how my therapy's actually going.Uncle_Bob wrote:If you check the PM I sent you on the 8th July you have all you need to go with your new machine

Re: Got my new machine!
I just received my new S9 Autoset. 1st time on APAP from CPAP and loved it! There were just too many people happy with the S9 autoset to pass it up.
Thanks to all for all the support and tips.
If anyone has the time I would like a PM for 3.11.
Thanks again
