Homemade FX hose tamer

Post by Janknitz » Wed Jul 28, 2010 12:15 am

I like the FX, but the weight of the short hose is a problem for me. Even though I use a homemade hose hanger, I still had the bulk of the hose on the "down side" of the hanger and the weight of the short FX hose was on the pillow, or the bed, or my chest. It often pulled the pillows away from my nose.

I read a post somewhere saying "a hose hanger will not work well with the FX' and for some reason, I accepted that statement without really testing it out.

Last night, though, I finally got the bright idea to pull most of the hose to the "up side" of the hanger, so that the short hose was suspended mid air above my head instead of lying on the bed itself.

It worked very well. I could move without having to wake and reposition the hose. The weight of the hose did not pull the pillows from my nose, and I didn't have that short hose snaking against my chest.

It's not the greatest picture, but here is a photo so you can get an idea of how it works:

Where did you find the hose hanger with the built-in light? Never seen one of those before.

the hose needs to be clamped or tied so it cant slide thru the hanger
any hose hanger that holds the hose above the head will stop the hose from wrapping itself around your neck as you roll in sleep, will also stop the weight of the hose tugging on the mask

Nice job on the hose hanger....I wondered about them but i seem to not mind my hose being on the bed beside me...I sleep alone so i usually just through the hose up on the pillows beside me and i rarely move through the night so i never get tangled up in it...I can see how a hose hanger would have great benifits to those who share a bed with their partner you may not have the luxury of having a whole side of the bed for your hose to sleep....lol

My hanger is a swinging planter bracket with a duct-taped skinny end of a fishing pole (oops!--not yet retired) At least he knows where to find it. About half of my FX slinky tube lays on me, but my slimline is mostly on or behind the scrunchie. Not as high, but it keeps it out of the mini-blinds.

The other benefit of this contraption is that the angle of the slinky hose is keeping the pillows pushed up to my nostrils instead of pulling them away.

And the airflow from the vent goes up so less blowing on ME.

I'm really happy with this set-up and sleeping SO well. I liked the FX before but it was interrupting my sleep on occasion. It's kind of like the last pieces of the "good sleep" puzzle are finally falling into place--well, except for the doggy wet nose that nasal pillows give me.

98% there. That's pretty good!

It only took six months, though

Maybe I'll try pulling the hose up and back.
That sounds like a nice set-up, and I can move my cord up to another grommet on the fishing pole.
No jigging allowed.

Janknitz, thats a nice set up you have there. I've been thinking about getting a hose hanger for my FX. Just wondering why it wouldn't work for the FX. Does anyone know?
