"INCEPTION" must see for all who have dreams to catch up on
Best Drug ever? A good night's sleep. I don't know where to even begin with this film. I haven't been out to a theater in a long time and I used to work in the business.
This film is made by the creator of "Memento" and " the Dark Knight." The film is "The Matrix" on steroids.
I look forward to hearing forum member's reactions to "INCEPTION."

I haven't seen it and I don't intend too. I much prefer something like "the Sorcerers apprentice" makes you laugh and has a nice ending and clear cut story line.

Three reactions to Inception
1. My wife and I went with another couple last Monday to a free invite-only prescreening. The movie was so bad that all four of us kept looking at our watches. We were very happy when the movie was over. My impression was they shot a lot of film and did not know what to do with it and then the producer said, "Don't worry about a cohesive story line, just cut it all up and throw it together. We will claim it is a very involved complicated story that only the SF sophisticates can understand."
2. That being said, some people are claiming it is great. Good for them.
3. There is a third group who claim to love the movie because they don't want people to think they are not smart enough to understand it.
There is one short scene that I really enjoyed. There was a group of people that looked like drug addicts coming into what looked like an opium den. They would each lie down on one of the cots. But they were not using drugs. They were there to get their fix of addictive REM.
BTW, I have watched 47 movies this year and keep my own rating system. Inception was one of only four that I did not enjoy.

tough audience, I liked the opium room scene as well.
Re: "INCEPTION" must see for all who have dreams to catch up on
i really enjoyed it. It felt a little long but the theater messed up the movie and started over...
Re: "INCEPTION" must see for all who have dreams to catch up on
I'll consider watching it when it's available on Netflix, since I haven't heard reviews good enough to plunk down the $7.00, for a senior citizen matinee ticket.
Re: "INCEPTION" must see for all who have dreams to catch up on
That would be my recommendation, but you might get caught up in repeatedly rewinding scenes to try to figure out what the h*** is going on.

I liked it. After it was over we talked about for an hour. With my sleep problems I thought maybe it would mess with my mind, but it didn't.
How do people think up stuff like that? Very good imaginations I guess.
Anyway I vote 3 stars.

Better than sleeping with the hose.
My wife and I both dozed off about 1/3 way into the movie. At first I thought it was just me, too much popcorn. When I glanced at my wife to see if she noted my dozing off, saw she too had eyes closed. Another couple, older than us, actually walked out about 1/2 way through...
But I understand most folks really liked it....

We watched Predators instead, much more aligned with my & my partner's cerebral capacities, sounds like
I think I'll catch this one DVD instead, or better yet on tv in a few years time.

I don't intend to see it just because I seldom watch movies. I have to be mindful that what I take in influences my dreams, and usually not in a good way. I will see the scenes again but with people I know in the roles. However, it sounds intriguing that one could go get a fix of REM. Bet many of us would have eagerly taken a shot at that at one time. My son-in-law is at the movies now watching it. Guess I'll hear his opinion in a couple hours.
EDIT: He and his daughter loved it - a lot!

Re: "INCEPTION" must see for all who have dreams to catch up on
I saw it last night, and was wonderfully entertained by it. To me, it was great movie making, especially in the way that science fiction can deliver on the big screen, with special effects, in this case the stunning visuals of the dream sequences. But there was enough of a traditional story there to keep me involved, as I was rooting for the protagonist to complete the one last job that would let him go home. But did he?
This movie reminded me of so many other science fiction movies that were different in plot but had as a part of the story the going into the minds of the characters and showing that to us as dreams or memories on the screen, some with the imagination variations on reality. It's a wonderful plot device IMHO, using more of the full potential that movies can deliver to me as visually creative entertainment. Certainly The Matrix comes to mind, along with Strange Days, Brainstorm, Dreamscape, The Cell, The Thirteenth Floor, The Science of Sleep, and even TV series like VR.5.
Overall, I am glad I saw this movie, and will likely think of it often over time. I'd love to read more feedback here from other folks who saw it and loved or hated it. It seems to me to be one of those films that is hard to be in the middle about, you either love it or hate it.

Re: "INCEPTION" must see for all who have dreams to catch up on
What will the sleep technology of the future be like I wonder? Could it be possible to not only induce REM, but slow wave sleep as well, or maybe an entire optimized sleep sequence. Or maybe when you don't have a lot of time, it takes you straight into SWS and then REM, no farting around with stage 1 or 2?kteague wrote:... But in terms of an ideal sleep environment, especially for those of us with movement issues, maybe sleeping in a liquid environment:

The diaper is optional, though.

Re: "INCEPTION" must see for all who have dreams to catch up on
I saw it tonight, and I was fascinated by it! It took a lot of attention to keep up with, but I thought it was great. My husband and I agreed that we need to see it again to catch some of the points we may have missed. The ending left me up in the air though! I definitely recommend it.
Re: "INCEPTION" must see for all who have dreams to catch up on
brain_cloud, is that pic really of someone sleeping in the water? Wonder if there's been any PLMD studies on if sleeping at least partially under water has any effect on PLMD. I'd be the first to go off my meds and volunteer for the study.
