Aeiomed Headrest replacement pillow (Nasal Seal)

Post by dtsm » Tue Jul 20, 2010 4:37 pm

Appreciate if folks who use this can confirm the 'expected' life of the pillows before replacement is required. I've read elsewhere anywhere from 6 months to a year....is that possible? I'm going through an authorization procedure with my insurance carrier and this information would be helpful.

You should place your pillow trade request on this thread.

Thanks for the heads up.

Do you have a reply for the question concerning the expected lifespan of the nasal seal?

I have no experience with the Headrest. Been curious, though.

Once I started washing mine with Dr. Bonners soap they held for 6 months -- or more.

They sell lots of different kinds: http://www.drbronner.com/DBMS/SFNT.htm. Can you be more specific? Many thanks!

Sorry, I should have added "liquid". I don't think the scent makes a difference to pillow longevity - both pepermint and lavender worked for me.
Mind you, after washing the nasal pillows -- in all my masks - they become cloudy. I think it may be the water where I live. I originally bought the Dr. Bonners because someone said her mask parts came out crystal clear after washing with it. No such luck for me. The longer life of the pillows was an unexpected side effect which I was very happy to discover.

OT but curious where all the members here purchase their headrest sets and replacement nasal seals?

I've spoken with Aeiomed twice to complain that their dealer locator listing is both incorrect and misleading. At least for CT, NY and NJ, there aren't any DME that carry the Headrest.....even though many are listed. I spoke with about 10 DME and most have never even heard of the mask or the brand? One has to jump through hoops - yes I know it's easy to purchase at cpap.com (where I got mine). But then trying to get reimbursed by insurance carrier is a big headache. POV

Sorry, don't know about Aeiomed - I have a Swift FX, but I found about 4 months is all I can get out of the nasal pillow. I am going to order Dr. Bonners lavender liquid soap today and see if it helps in the future. Thanks so much for the suggestion.

Best regards,

Jersey Girl

I bought my Headrest replacement pillows from cpapsuperstore.com, $20 each.

It's not all Aeiomeds fault. While it's true many times it will have to be ordered. It is also true many RT's have never heard of Aeiomed and it means they will have to do something, like find out how to order them. Then there are the other places who just get a better profit margin from pushing what they buy in bulk rather than help you.

I get mine from the VA contracted DME (lowest bidder) and it took me the better part of a year and lots of wrong masks and other parts. Even one girl telling me Innomed NA II is the same thing - well yea they both deliver air to the nose but the NA II have tubes that go right into your nostrils. That is when I found out the people you talk to on the phone and the ones who order the parts think they are RT's but are NOT. BEWARE.

Will your Insurance allow you to buy online and file for a refund?

Awesome lead - half the price of our friends here! I just traded for nasal seal and since the consensus is they last 6+ months, I think I'm set for the rest of 2010 and then some......

Once my insurance authorization comes through will pick up a back Headrest for those 'just in case' moments. Many thanks.
