Data From an S7 Machine
Data From an S7 Machine
I realize this machine is a little old, but I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to get data off of an S7 Elite machine.
I need a cable of some sort. I understand I can buy it at an electronics store. I don't know what to ask for. Does anyone know what kind of cable is required?
Does anyone know what kind of software I need to display the data?
Finally, does anyone know where I could get that software? I have Win XP.

You already have the software, the null modem cable here

Re: Data From an S7 Machine
You say it is the "Escape" model so I don't think that it will give any detailed data even if you had software or a cable. You would need and "Elite" or an "Autopap" to get detailed data.

Thanks. The manual also says null modem cable. My computer has a female RS-232 port. I'm just wondering if a male-2-male adapter will work to connect the null modem cable to my computer. Anyone using a null modem cable to download their data? How do you connect it to your computer (other than thru USB)?

Thanks for responding, Hawthorne. Actually, it's an Elite machine. I've changed my equipment listing so as not to be so confusing, since you are not the first to stumble over this. I think we just get so used to looking for equipment at the bottom of the post that it is hard to ignore that.

If all you need is a null modem serial cable, try monoprice - I've bought lots of cables from them, very high regarded vendor:

They have every possible gender/connector combination you could possibly want. 9-pin and 25-pin depending on what your PC has, etc..

Re: Data From an S7 Machine
it would not surprise me if resmed crossed a pin or two in the cable to make it custom.

'Twould be a dastardly deed. I hope that's not what they've done.Uncle_Bob wrote:it would not surprise me if resmed crossed a pin or two in the cable to make it custom.

Re: Data From an S7 Machine
OK. Since we're talking high tech here does anyone have a schematic of the S9 series so I can figure out what voltages the power connector(s) need to present?
I especially want to be able to run the thing directly off 12VDC when we start trailering although both the trailer and the Ford Flex have 120VAC outlets in them. I want to be able to provide backup power with just a simple 12V battery.
OK.. I'm a techno geek and just want to play.

Yes, its quite refreshing being able to buy a quality HDMI cable (for example) for $5 instead of $90 or whatever Best Buy wants. Monoprice's prices and shipping costs reflect realityLoQ wrote:Wow, what a great vendor.

Success!
And for anyone who may be following in my footsteps, it was just a regular null modem cable, just as billbolton said it would be. You don't need the super-expensive ResMed one.
