is resmed easybreathe equal in all their machines?
is resmed easybreathe equal in all their machines?
Hi, I tried a resmed autoset spirit II and I really liked the "easybreathe" technology. It produced in me a true EFFORTLESS breathing which I need.
These machines have the "easybreathe" technology and are much cheaper to get (at least in secondwindcpap)
ResMed S8 Escape II
ResMed S8 Elite II
ResMed S8 AutoSet AutoSet II
The original "easybreathe" feeling of the spirit II is the deciding point to me for buying a model.
I wonder if all these machines have the same "easybreathe" feeling or simply the spirit II feels better because of its price?
In this thread I just want to resolve this question which is important to me. For anything unrelated to the "easybreathe" thing I made another thread commenting about my treatment, my machine, my problems, etc.

Guso,
As far as I know, the "autoset Spirit II" is the name give to the S8 Autoset outside the US. I doubt you will find people who experienced both.
My reading of Resmed Easybreathe docomentation (- what I found with google's help) makes me think it would function the same on all the II machines.

The easybreath, really it is the EPR setting on the machines is the same. Note that there are actually 3 settings 1,2 and 3 for the EPR. 3 will be the easiest to breath out against. Also the Escape and Elite will not be an autoset cpap like you have been using. The autosets actually adjust in pressure as you use them.

Great to know that, thanks! That means I can afford a second hand one.ozij wrote:Guso,

Well whatever the spirit II had (EPR and/or easybreath) is what I want. I can't know which of them was used since I tried it once and I don't own the machine, sorry.

Re: is resmed easybreathe equal in all their machines?
"Easy-Breathe" is a manner of smoothing the pressure-waveform transitions in bilevel or in EPR and involves both firmware and motor. It is possible that improvements in firmware and/or motor design may result in differences in "Easy-Breathe" from one series to another or in comparison of the application of "Easy-Breathe" in EPR in contrast to its application in true bilevel. Such information is likely highly proprietary.

How can I be sure that both machines are the same?ozij wrote:Guso,

I meant that it would be nice if you posted a link of some document or webpage confirming that fact about the two machines.ozij wrote:By renting an S8 autoset II for a trial period.
Thank you anyway.

*sigh* Just contact Resmed and ask THEM. My understanding is that the EasyBreathe technology is available in all the S8 IIs.
I have a Resmed VPAP Auto which is not a true S8 II, but it isn't a true S8 either. W/this VPAP Auto the EasyBreathe technology is available in auto mode, but not in straight bi-level mode.

I know of no such link - if you find one, I'd be glad to have it.Guso wrote:I meant that it would be nice if you posted a link of some document or webpage confirming that fact about the two machines.ozij wrote:By renting an S8 autoset II for a trial period.

Can't address those choices, but the S8 autoset has much better EPR than the S9

I'll offer an opinion on this. That is that in essence the easybreathe *should* be the same.
The blower/fan assembly changed 2 times between the 1st intro of S8 model with easybreathe, and the intro of the Resmed S9 model. That may be noticeable to some folk but I believe the waveform is essentially the same between them.
The new S9 appears to have lowered the noise level even further than they had already achieved with the S8 series II machines.
Good luck

The actual mapping is:Guso wrote:Great to know that, thanks! That means I can afford a second hand one.
US - Vantage = ROW - Autoset Spirit
US - Elite = ROW - Autoscore
This applies to both S8 and S8 II product lines. The S8 and S8 II product lines have the same physical package but internally are not the same.
Cheers,
Bill
