Hard power numbers for an S9

Post by SleepyTiger » Tue Jul 13, 2010 12:03 am

OK,

Went camping (RVing) over the weekend.

Using a Kill-a-watt, the S9 (no humidifier) set for 8-16 Autoset ate 50 W-hrs for roughly 7 hours of use.

So, being conservative, that would be 8 watts continuous draw. On a 12 V battery that would be about 0.75 A.

So the typical 7 a-hr gel cell would last about 5 hours. Get a pair of the typical "emergency light" and/or "burglar alarm" batteries and you're good to go for a night.

The nice thing about that 50 W-hr number is that it is nicely in line with what a 15W solar panel will actually provide/recharge over the course of a day.

I hope this helps somebody.
