I have had my cpap machine for a bit over two yrs. How many years of use on a machine before one should get a replacement?

I believe most insurance companies will replace a machine after five years (and may require another sleep study at that time). But I'm sure many people can get more than five years of good service from a machine.

my insurance will provide a replacement every 3 years. Its worth calling them up and checking into your replacement schedule. Not only for the machine but for all things including masks, hoses, filters and mask parts etc.

I believe most insurance companies will replace a machine after five years (and may require another sleep study at that time). But I'm sure many people can get more than five years of good service from a machine.

Same if you are on Medicare. If your machine gives out and you are replacing it with the same type of machine they will replace it with out a sleep study before the 5 year mark. But if you change types of machines...by that I mean go from a C-Pap to a Bi-Pap you will need a sleep study to have your insurance cover the cost. At the 5yr. mark I am not sure.

A CPAP can last a very long time. Last week I spoke to a gentleman who was still using his 14 year old CPAP. I just had a machine die after 5 years and close to 15,000 hours.

The life of a cpap machine certainly does vary! I have an 8 year old bare bones Remstar that is still working. I keep it as a backup for my backup!

I have a Remstar Plus that I got as my first machine. I got it 5 years ago. I plugged it in yesterday. It still works...wonders will never cease.

ResMed UK claim that most of their machines last at least 10 years, many patients using them 10-12 years after purchase.

I've had mine for nearly 5 years without any problems other than the blanket recall over the power chord/socket issue. Like with all technology it gets better every year to two years in leaps and bounds, so most people (cost prohibited) tend to want to purchase a new one every couple of years.
