TSA loved my S9
Traveled recently.
Both sets of TSA agents "ohhhed and ahhhed" over my S9.
"Wow, that must me one of the new ones."
LOL.

I love when TSA agents recognize or get it. Spouse or other relative or even themselves use CPAP.... although I do get suprized looks when I state the machine is mine: not fitting the "profile" of an OSA person..... They do carry my machine almost reverently at times, and make sure I can see what is going on, sometimes waiting until I have collect my other baggage so I can follow them to the testing area.....
And I just have an S8 !!!!

fun answer:Jaylee wrote:Did they pat you down?
No. Are you offering?
real answer:
No, but one of the trainee's gave my bag the full treatment because I had (gasp) a full tube of toothpaste!

Nah, I wouldn't want to get you in to trouble with your wife.SleepyTiger wrote:fun answer:Jaylee wrote:Did they pat you down?

I have never flown before, it sounds very complicated.

It must be part of TSA's standard procedure now to make sure you have the opportunity to watch them swab the machine. I always get asked to step down to where this is done. They don't always offer any explanation, but they give me a clear view.JayC wrote:I love when TSA agents recognize or get it. I've always thought the S8 looks like an explosive device, especially when there is no humidifier attached. It's compact and heavy with buttons and an LCD. I'm glad to see that the S9s have more of a clock radio look.

Re: TSA loved my S9
Just did a trip back and forth to Denver.
Got told I "MUST" take it out and scan it like my computer....
No strip search, but they did swap it down.
BTW - best sleep I have ever had at 5000 feet - my S9 spooled up and work great!!

Re: TSA loved my S9
When I flew recently TSA on both flights were happy to change gloves at my request. On the return trip, they were hesitant at my request that they use a fresh swipe. When I smiled at the TSA worker and said, "I use this machine to breathe," she said, "Oh!" and proudly showed me a fresh swipe. No remarks about the S9 itself, still learning...
The same TSA worker also was quite upset that I stepped near her to watch when she did the swipe, seems that they need space to assure that we're not threatening/tampering as they test. Once I stepped back behind the imaginary line, she was fine. Somebody had removed the barrier that was supposed to mark the line. Live and learn, again...if I have patience with TSA, and they with me, all is well.

Re: TSA loved my S9
I fly fairly often, and on two separate occasions a TSA person drew me aside and begged me for information on how to get tested for apnea, what the costs were, the procedure in getting a machine, etc. One was asking for her husband, the other for himself. TSA staff have (with one lone exception) been polite and agreeable when dealing with my cpap, and I have not had any of them fuss about using clean gloves. I always try to be courteous and pleasant with them, and thank them for their efforts; I know they must get a load of grief from cranky, irritable passengers.JayC wrote:I love when TSA agents recognize or get it. Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.

yes, whether we like it or not, we have to support TSA to perform its duty to protect us from those terrorists
While we are inconvenienced and humiliated, this is still much better than blown by terrorists in mid-air
