Resmeds S9

Post by qjosea » Wed Jun 30, 2010 5:53 am

Hello to everyone in hoseland . I am currently in the market for a second machine for traveling and was looking into the S9. I am currently using Resmed's Vpap adapt SV enhanced. The question is with my condition (csa) can I use this machine? Is it compatible with the Vpap adapt SV enhanced.

Thanks

Jose

Nope. So far Resmed has only come out w/the S9 Elite and S9 AutoSet. My local Resmed Rep did say that they will have an S9 VPAP Auto available before the end of the year. Beyond that .... your guess is as good as mine.

Greetings! Unfortunately with moderate to severe CSA you need to look at either an ASV unit or a S/T unit. However, from reports of studies on the effectiveness of ASV units, it appears the S/T units do not work anywhere near as well as the ASV units.

I would normally state that some unit is better than no unit, but after having to abandon my BiPAP due to its inability to help me sleep, I am not as glib with that pronouncement.

So, I fear our ASV units are what we have at them moment. "Portable" is what I would barely call them. But you can lug them about. When I travel, I often skip taking the humidifier unit, which makes it easier to take.

Resmed is working on bringing the VPAP adapt Sv to the S9 platform but this could take a while.

I can believe that! They haven't even come up w/and released a VPAP or VPAP Auto! Probably just as well until they get the "bugs" that we've seen mentioned in the forum worked out of the S9 Eites and AutoSets. I have absolutely LOVED my S8s (Elite, AutoSet Vantage and then VPAP Auto) and had been really looking forward to an S9 VPAP Auto being released.
