Dry mouth but no leaks

Post by borck » Tue Jun 29, 2010 12:33 am

Hello there!

Using a Resmed Swift nasal pillows mask, I have spent quite some time to fight mouth leaks.

What I do now :
- I use chinup strips (quite efficient)
- I a use a chin strap
- I use some polygrip to perfect the mouth seal.

With all that, it's pretty impossible for the air to escape from my mouth even when I try consciently.
My wife testifies that since I do this she doesn't hear ANY noise that she used to hear before...

I'm quite happy with that (except with the fact that the chinup strips become a bit expensive, about 15$/month).

The problem is : I still wake up in the middle of the night with my mouth VERY dry. I use an humidifier and I tried to augment the humidity (now it is set on 3 out of 5). Since I am doing all these things to have my mouth closed, it's quite a pain to drink an humidify my mouth when this happens...

Does anyone have any idea how it is even possible that I still get a dry mouth ???

Thanks

borck

I've seen air leak out the corners of the mouth with the leak indicator in the green. It could be just a subtle little leak doing that to you.

Good luck getting an answer to this. I have the same problem. It seems to me that the air that is drying your -mouth is due to high pressure and not open mouth. I wish I could help.
