sometimes CPAP is not enough?
I have been using CPAP for 18 months now.
There is a big difference if I don't use CPAP.
There are still times during the day that I don't feel really good, specially just before lunch time.
I still feel sleepy and some times even dizzy.
Does any one knows what to do/take during the day to function properly?

Fausto, you can't blame it all on Sleep Apnea. In fact, it would be rare to have just one condition as you age (especially if your OSA was severe and went on for a long time before treatment).
There can be something else going on. You need to check in with your doctor.
Your symptoms sound like you may have low blood sugar just before lunch--it could be related to what you eat or don't eat earlier in the day for breakfast, or you could have other medical issues that need addressing.
Call Monday and get an appointment.

Yes, there is a history of diabetes in my family, but I don't think this is the case here.
I know some people takes vitamin supplements to get through the day.
I also notice that if I take a pain killer I feel much better.
If I take a nap without the CPAP, I feel just as bad as before I took the nap.
I try to take a nap with the CPAP but sometimes it is not possible.
I just think that has to be something that you can do for this "hang over" feeling.

Have go a data capable machine? Do you know you AHI, leak rate? Do you mouth breathe?

I just responded to your other note, and again I think you should test for diabetes and not talk yourself out of it looking for other things that cause your symptoms.

I have been tested for diabetes and it was negative.
Do you feel hot, thirsty and sleepy in the mornings?
My CPAP was checked 1 month ago and is all ok.
I just want to have an idea of how should I feel if my sleep was reasonable

In your post you mention not feeling well and being sleepy, but nothing about pain. Can you tell us more about this? Some medications such as pain killers and sedatives don't interact well with sleep apnea therapy.

I don't know how I should feel, but I can tell you that I do not have any of the issues you describe. I am not hot, thirsty or sleepy in the mornings. I wasn't hot or thirsty before BiPap though, either.

Its been 18 months since you started CPAP. You still tired during the day. Its time for a new in-lab titration study - or a 2 week loaner APAP scripted by your doctor w/pressure settings 1-2 cms below your current pressure setting and maybe 5 cms above your current pressure setting.

People can better help if you fill in your profile in TEXT, NOT ICONNY. Also having a machine that gets full data, and the software and reader to download it, allows you to post your dailies so others can see them, and comment. It's hard to go by how you feel, most of us have other things going on too. Jim You can't blame all lifes problems on Sleep Apnea. Ditto the above, but FIRST check to see if you sleep on your back and have events while doing so? If you do, then try to sleep on your side, or increase the pressure when on your back (but not the best solution vs. side sleeping at a lower pressure).BlackSpinner wrote:Have go a data capable machine? I MUST stay off my back to reduce OSA & snoring. I use a small backpack of solid styrofoam to keep me on my side (tennis balls too small), & use DIY customized soft foam pillow to keep my head in a side sleeping position to eliminate most OSA.

To me it sounds like your prescription might not be correct.
I don't know if you have the same issues as I do/did but pre-CPAP I would have a lot of night sweats and a very dry mouth in the morning. The dry mouth was because I would be laying on my back with my mouth open snoring. With CPAP running, my mouth stays closed by itself and the dry mouth rarely happens. The night sweats have also dramatically decreased. I also did and still do have issues with fading in the morning that can be satisfied by food AND I've been recently tested negative for diabetes. When I can get 8 1/2 + hours of sleep I'm usally fine though and don't fade. Sadly, due to my work schedule and duties at home I rarely get more than 7 1/2 during the week.
I have a "data capable" machine and push the button every morning to see what my AHI rate was in the morning and most mornings I'm still running at about 45+ - well above the really bad rate - still waiting for an updated prescription to reduce that. I'm hoping that once I can finally get a good night's sleep in the time available to me that the fading will go away. If you don't have a data capable machine (or just plain don't know where the numbers are - we're not ALL computer hackers ) this might be related to your issues as well.
