is one able to exchange machines with dme?

Yes, I did, but you have to do within thirty days, or you are stuck with it.. at least thats how my dme worked..

I traded the system one for the s9

however, our insurance isnt covering any of this cost because we have a high deductable, so if I had it to do over again,
and I KNEW what knew now, I would just get a script from the doctor, have it faxed to cpap.com and buy all my goodies there..

bye the way, the dme charged 2200.00 dollars for the s9, and you go check the price on cpap.com!
Most insurance companies witll negotiate the price down to half that even if you havnet med your deductable..

when I got my first machine, I didnt even know i had sleep apnea! I mean, she told me, and thirty seconds later, they brought in a machine..
so I was in total shock.. youll do much better being informed..

so you can clean it really well..

the s9 you CANT take apart with the one it comes with, but I do believe you can buy another one that will come apart..

Filtration is important to me because I have reactive airway disease (its like asthma but asthma meds dont help) and I can cough during the day
yes, and have trouble breathing, but I really would like the cleanest air possible at night while Im trying to sleep.
edit: also during the day I dont HAVE to breath thru a discusting, filthy, dusty, misfitting filter.. truly, it smells like a dirty vacuum bag.
Last night I slept without the filter, because I didnt have any new ones yet, and it was a thousand times better without it..
I wish the system one filter set up was in the s 9, or the quietness and the ahi daily screen with climate hose was on the system one.
whoever marries the best of these two is gonna make a killing.

Can someone please tell me why its so hard for some people to get an auto? I dont understand that? Why isnt it medically necessary for
anyone and everyone to have one? After all you can run it in apap or cpap?

I just asked for one, and the doctor said.. "oh most people prefer cpap, but if you want that, you can have that"

Im not sure MOST people prefer cpap, maybe thats just what the end up with when they are deer in the headlights newbies..
Yes, S9 has an optional dishwasher-safe disassebleable humidifier reservoir which one can buy: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... amber.html for $37. The humidifier that is shipped costs approx. $25 and lasts >6 months while the reservoir that is shipped with S9 humidifier is supposed to be disposed and replaced every 6 months. It seems shortsighted for DMEs to ship the cheesier reservoir and replace @6months.

Remember that that DME makes money on every replacement reservoir that they sell. Although it is absurd that ResMed even makes a reservoir that doesn't open for cleaning, it still should last way more than 6 months. Vinegar will kill germs and dissolve any mineral deposits left behind by tap water (can you hear the shrieks in the distance?) But Medicare allows a replacement every 6 months and many insurance companies follow the same rules.

Remember the DME makes money .... I guess that is why ResMed makes and supplies as standard a reservoir that can not be opened for cleaning when you own one. And why the DMEs lobby the doctors so hard on various issues, like deliver prescription directly to DME and not patient and to prescribe CPAP instead of auto CPAP (since their profit is better on CPAP) etc.

P.S. I am going to start another thread to ask about advantages of AUTO vs standard CPAP.
