I have a SULLIVAN VPAP II ST-A which I aquired used back in 2002 (my pulmonologist traded me even for 2 used cpap machines!). It's been a great unit but is getting old and knowing this thing won't last forever - I'm starting to look for another machine.
One catch though is that I'm self employed and uninsured so am on a very tight budget. I had to program the SULLIVAN myself (!) as my initial sleep studies, surgeries and equipment took every penny I had (and then some .
I'm thinking a newer used machine with low hours would be an option but again - I would like to avoid the doctors office and prescription and sleep studies all together as the settings I've come up with work fairly well. I haven't seen a doctor in about seven years (Yay!!!)
Suggestions?
Economical VPAP machines to treat Central Apnea?
Re: Economical VPAP machines to treat Central Apnea?
You are pretty much reduced to craigslist or a post by someone in an apnea support forum or an ad in your local newspaper or a rummage sale w/o a script for a bi-level.
Would your family doctor write a script for a bi-level? W/a script you could buy a lightly used, maybe even new, bi-level at cpapauction.com

Slinky's advice is spot on. A letter from your doc will suffice but get him to include he words ...zandurian wrote:Thanks for the info! Approval is given for XXX YYY to purchase a cpap mask <insert the types you prefer here> and either
a Cpap machine or Auto Cpap machine with pressure set to <insert your epap pressure here> or
a Bilevel machine or Auto Bilevel Machine with pressure set to <insert your epap/ipap pressure here> or
an ASV machine with pressure set the same as for Bilevel.
The above wording will allow you to bid on anything in cpapauction.com. You fax a copy of it to cpap.com.
Good luck
