Exhaust valve waking up spouse

Post by pam933 » Wed Jun 09, 2010 9:07 am

What's the best way to deal with the air from the exhaust valve blowing on my husband and waking him up? I'm using the Swift LT for Her, but is there another mask (nose pillows or nasal) that is better for this?

He said that my air was leaking last night and blowing on him and making a noise and waking him up- but my leak rate was zero, and I don't think that a leak from the nose pillows would blow directly on him so I'm guessing that it was really the exhaust valve. I don't know about the noise - maybe there was a leak -but my leak data said zero leaks...

My husband complained about the air once and it upset me to have to choose between my husbands comfort and my therapy. I started to move to the spare room and he settled down. If it bothers him now he never complains. Hope you can work this out.

Others have simply put a pillow lengthwise in the middle of the bed to solve the problem.Abetter solution than moving.

if the LT for her vents like the regular LT then it vents straight out through a cluster of tiny plastic holes.
You could try applying a loose band aid to make a tent over the holes, making sure the wound section of the band aid is directly over the holes so it never sticks to the holes. The air would then vent up and down.

Works for both of us! My wife was a hosehead about 5 months before me and I could stand it either. used the pillow trick and now that we both are on the hose, it comes in handy for both of us.

King sized beds work too

I usually sleep on my right side, facing away from my hubby. But when I do turn over, there is enough physical distance between us that it's not giving him the arctic blast.

Beats my wife's solution if I didn't use the machine - the pillow was going to go over my face ...

I've always looked for benefits of being single. I think I just found one.

Agreed about the pillow, but your question was about another mask doesn't seem to be answered.

I haven't used the Swift LT series, but the Swift FX series the vent is more down at a 30-45 degree angle, and doesn't blow air straight to your partner's head. There may also be other masks that blow straight up (toward the top of your head).

Wish you luck finding a solution.
