Sleeping through Alarm

Post by lali0020 » Mon Jun 07, 2010 8:32 pm

Does anyone else find they have trouble being in such deep sleep on CPAP that they never hear their alarm? I have to set about 5 alarms all stretched out over an hour before I need to wake up to ever hear them and even still I find myself waking up with the last one already going off. Its really starting to bother me and is affecting me getting to work when I want to. (Thankfully I don't have a set time to be to work but I do have to work a certain number of hours a day and so I end up staying there later). I've tried going to bed earlier but I'm getting between 7-8 hrs a night, I do feel tired but not as bad as if I don't use my machine. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Try a bed shaker alarm that is extra loud.

Get a Clock radio, set it to Rock & Roll, crank up the volume. It will do the job, if not you will need a stun gun. Jim

Are you taking any meds that cause you to sleep deep, if so cut back some. Oversleeping is a small problem unless you have to work, think not hearing the smoke alarm. Bad News!

I've got an alarm that has two settings so it first goes off with the radio very loud, then goes to buzzer after 30 mins. I've also got an old school bell alarm which is pretty loud and my cell phone. I don't take any drugs to sleep as I've never had an issue falling or staying asleep(sans the apneas I didn't know I was having). I don't know some days are good but somedays I just sleep right through all the alarms until the buzzer has already been going off for like 30 mins. Very frustrating.
