Someone who makes a product didn't like the honest feedback he got from some users here on the product. He overreacted a bit. He has been badmouthing cpaptalk in his blog and elsewhere, going back to 2008. I don't know more specifics than that.

Seems we think and talk too much. If you do a search you can read some threads going back to 2008 that should make it clear. Then you can see what you think. Personally, I would just say again - "Thank you so much for this great forum, that has helped so many of us to reclaim their health!"

okay folks - a few of you have seen this - I hope johnny and carolyn aren't upset with my posting this - I can only post what I got and have no idea what correspondence they / cpap.com / cpaptalk.com got from Mr. Moriarty - speculate all you want - I have been trying to just post facts.

Mr. Moriarty appears to be the person who "spam deleted" my post back in January because of the pictures (read on in the thread to his post). I had posted images of his product of his website as people wanted to see what this product was (see posts in the thread before mine). Carolyn removed the pictures (with my permission of course - I told her she could or she could ask me to) on Tuesday June 1, over 4 months after they had been posted.

Posting of an image from my copyrighted website was not authorized. Although you may think that this is "fair use"
the final authority on the matter may have to be taken up with a copyright attorney. I am asking you to remove the image
of this product on this posting (see above url).

I have also messaged Carolyn goodman about this issue and she is aware of the request through this message.

Thank you.

Wow, all this drama over a picture of a CPAP machine. I've heard it all now. Whats the big deal? Why do people get soooo!! upset about such small things. AMAZING.

it wasn't a machine - it was a nose protection product that looked like little circles of moleskin you stick on your face

I think this is much better to clear the forum from this drama.

if you interject business and self interest in a forum like this, you will have this kind of deviations and unrelated arguments.

I am even wondering how come this person was allowed that long with that much turmoil.

other forums, "apneasupport.org" , just because they are funded by the American sleep associations and products manufactures, they control discussions, you can't talk about changing pressure of machines, or self help, or self diagnosis, just because they are funded by sleep doctors associations and they want you to do every step through sleep doctor even the simplest

everytime you interject money, or self interest you lose great deal of the help these forums suppose to provide

it should always be a policy, get the money and self interest out

JUST MY OPINION

I don't think he was interested in helping us here. He only wanted a test market for his products and then he trashed us by referring to us as yahoos on his blog. He was really only interested in selling to the big guys -for example Apria and Lincare.

He got treated by us in the manner he treated us. You can read my posts; you will see I was never one of his supporters.

I hotlinked a picture off his site to help others see what the product looked like. He refused to provide MSDS information; I need to know what is in a product such as that before I would apply it to my face and would hope others would too.

Again all we can do is speculate what was received by the Goodmans to prompt Johnny's action.

I hope Johnny doesn't mind, but as a service to newer memebers of this forum who may be a little freaked out at an announcement of someone no longer being a member, I would like to link to two of Johnny's posts from a while back that explain a bit how this board is handled, which, in my opinion, is a truly beautiful thing.

This one explains the overall easy-going concept:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=20895&p=179739#p179739

This one explains that discussing products is fine:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37042&p=322643&#p322643

This is the sort of establishment that it is very, very, very, very hard to get thrown out of, seems to me. But if you decide to create a product, trick some people into trying it, then harrass them and call them idiots, then storm out in a huff demanding that no links be made to your site and threatening to sue everyone and everything if that doesn't happen, including the business that sponsors the board, well, I'm assuming that just might get your posting privileges, uh, "re-examined" for a while, even here.

I am not trying to act like any sort of moderator. I am only pointing out what a good job of it is being done with the light-handed, low-key approach by those few doing it so well, in my opinion.

Sleeprider, how's your dog's AHI now that he's joined us? Oh, you didn't mean your dog has joined cpaptalk.com--you meant Mr. Strap-dude's Yorkie jumping on the couch, didn't you? Never mind.

I hope we don't all get sued for watching that video!

Amen, sir. Back in 2003, when I was a newbie, I was a member of "apneasupport." It rather quickly became apparent that they did not tolerate the open exchange of ideas, or ANY form of informed consent when it came to the treatment of sleep apnea. After several very heated exchanges over this policy, they as much as admitted that they were beholden to the "providers" of sleep apnea care and treatment, and were supported by them.

Definitely a "follow the money" situation, and I left in utter disgust. Thank goodness for the open-mindedness of this site, and putting patients health foremost.

I feel kind of bad for him in that video. You can tell that he is really trying and that he is just a entrepreneur just trying to raise awareness of his product. But the way he is trying to accomplish that is all wrong.

The video... I'm not making fun of it... I'm just saying from a purely professional point of view, probably could have used a few changes. You know? like... practice what you are going to say. Record as many "takes" as needed to get a smooth flow in the presentation. Try to make it as informative and as brief as possible so your audience doesn't loose patience with the length of the presentation. Let the viewer get a really good up close view of the product and show why its superior to the competition.

The other thing is just how he has been interacting with the people here: Your customers have to be your highest priority, especially when you are just starting out. You need to respect them, really listen to their feedback and genuinely care about what they are saying. It seems like he designed this thing, poured a bunch of money into it, and then when he got some honest feedback, he belittled his potential customers because they didn't instantly fall in love with his design. I assume that in his mind, the design was already flawless and couldn't be improved upon. When people gave him some feedback, it may have just freaked him out because he has already invested EVERYTHING into the current design and it would be much too expensive to go back to the prototype phase. Even so, it doesnt justify is actions and he is just setting himself up for failure.

So who here honestly thinks those members donors honestly do NOT want ANY patients to learn how to adjust the pressure on the donors equipment? Honestly now does that make any sense?
