F&P non - rebreathing valve malfunction?

Post by ozij » Thu Jun 03, 2010 7:24 am

I'm trying the F&P full face mask that I got today -- a Forma.
Unlike other FFM masks I used, in which the non-rebreathing valve snaps shut with a "pfutt" - when pressurize air comes in this one does not, and air keeps coming out of it. That doesn't seem right to me --
I'd appreciate comments from other who use Fisher & Paykel full face masks. The non rebreathing valves are the same on all models.

My starting pressure is 7.2

Thank you
O.

I looked at my F & P 431 and noticed that it does not have the flap on that valve that my Hybrid has. I never noticed that, since I hardly ever use a full face mask. I have only used the 431 for a nap on occasion, to make sure it is adjusted for me and never tried to see what happened if the power went off.

So--- I can't help here but the thread is bumped up!!

Oz,

You have a defective anti-asphyxia valve on your Forma, you need to contact whomever you purchased it from and demand that they replace it. I have had only 1 returned for this reason since we started carrying the Forma about 2 months ago, not a very extended study time I know but doesn't seem to be a constant problem.
Canada...I can't say anything nice, so I won't say anything at all.

Thank you both.

I just had a closer look at my F & P 431 and it DOES have the flaps. They are VERY difficult to see. My old eyes did not see them until I had a closer look. They sit tight up against the triangular opening of the valve - one on either side. Not as easy to see as on the Hybrid.

I'm hoping you really do have them on your Forma too Ozij!!!!
