Increased Humidification causes Congestion ?
Increased Humidification causes Congestion ?
I have always had congestion since starting Cpap Therapy but Recently I have been using the Aussie Heated Hose to prevent Rainout and last night I Increased the HH to a setting of three to combat the Congestion. I did Nasal Irrigation before bed also and his Morning the Congestion seems lesser but when I blew my Nose the Nose started bleeding. I am wondering if the Increased Humidification along with the Aussie heated Hose will cause the Congestion to worsen and possibly cause the nose to bleed ? Also, I take a Claratin D before bed as the Allergies are bad here in Texas now. Tonight I will decrease the HH setting back to Two agaiin and see if the Congestion gets better or worse.

I am not sure what the humidity in your place. In my home now it is 50-60% and last night the room temperature is around 70. I have been using humidifier setting of 2 in the last several days. According to those who have the experience, too much humidity will creat nose congestion

I don't think there is a hard and fast rule. Some people seem to be helped by more humidity, some people have increased congestion with more humidity.
Count me in the latter group. I have a PR S1 and I think that puts out very little humidity to begin with because there is very little heat and very little condensation in my tank. If I turn it over 2, I get congested and a wicked sinus headache will wake me in the middle of the night. A little humidity is good--no more dried out nasal passages and throat which is what I experienced for a month before getting a humidifier--but too much isn't so good for me either.

Re: Increased Humidification causes Congestion ?
I've found that there's a narrow range within which I don't get congestion.
Also be sure to keep your hose clean so you don't get any mold spores taking advantage of the humidity and heat they're getting...?
