Snoring Husband is no Longer Snoring!

Post by Jersey Girl » Mon May 24, 2010 7:37 pm

It's a miracle! No, really, it's his new S9. Many of you put up with my rantings and ravings about my husband's snoring keeping me awake. After going through his sleep study and titration, it was determined that my husband John had UARS, but we were unsure if our insurance would pay for a machine since he wasn't diagnosed with sleep apnea. He did snore loudly and he did have restless legs, get up to urinate 2-3 times a night and his breathing just didn't sound right to me. Our sleep doc got the insurance company to approve it, as John did have about 180 respiratory arousals at his sleep study.

John got off to a rocky start with his Liberty mask and we finally determined that the placement of mouth and nasal pillows just wasn't comfortable for him. So, after 3-4 nights of suffering and trying to "tweak" the Liberty, I could see that John was getting frustrated and I drove out to the DME and picked up a Quatro for him. He loves his Quatro. It seals instantly for him (his pressure is a 9) and he sleeps like a baby. He now sleeps all night with it, every night and I couldn't be happier. I was so happy that first night when I heard....nothing. Just the crisp, clean white noise of his s9. It joined sweetly with the crisp, clean white noise of my s8.

One night, we looked at each other at bedtime with our masks, both of us facing each other in the middle of the bed, and we really looked...stared at each other all masked up...I bursted out laughing. His and hers cpaps and we are very, very happy.

I have been on the hose since Jan 8 and John joined the club on April 29. Thanks so much for all of your support, dear friends. We couldn't have done it without you!

Love,

Jersey Girl

Congratulations on the success of both you and your husband!! That is fantastic.

I suspect my hubby has a bit of sleep apnea going on and keep trying to convince him to let me do an overnight pulse ox on him. He is refusing and pretty stubbornly!

I'm glad your husband came around and now you can both sleep peacefully with your hoses!!!

That's great, peaceful nights and good health to you both!

Remember when we were kids there was a joke that if two kids with orthodontia kissed their braces would lock together? Well the same applies to CPAP masks--make sure you kiss BEFORE you put on your masks

Yay! I am so happy for you both.

I am sure my wife has been getting a much more rested sleep since I went on the hose.

It was the norm to get a nudge with a dismayed comment you are snoring!

Stories such as this one are very uplifting.
