Opening up an M Series Auto

I have a Respironics M series auto. For quite a while I had been noticing what I thought was some dust building to behind the grid plate where the filters fit. I couldn't reach in to clean it but thinking it was only dust I left it. Finally it got so bad that I managed to get the special type of screwdriver required and took the plate off. I was stunned to find just how much of it was under the place and that it was fungus and not dust. I cleaned it up using cotton buds and white vinegar.
What I'm wondering is whether there is fungus actually inside the machine and I would like to open the machine up and have a look but I'm a bit reluctant to take the risk in case I can't put it back together. Has anyone ever opened up a Respironics M series machine and if so was it easy to re-assemble?

Unfortunately it does not show how the bottom of the box is opened. It is the bottom where the air intake is that I would like to get at. If there's any fungus which has been drawn in with the air this is where it will be. It does look as though all the electronics is in the top and probably taking the bottom off will be easy (but will it?)

Can't tell you that.....I've never (yet) taken one of these things apart (and I don't have an M Series).

I do remember someone posting some years back that in the process of taking one apart, they found one or more filters in the bottom somewhere. Filters that aren't documented anywhere and apparently not "user-replaceable". The person who found it reported that it was severely clogged with dust, etc. I think it was a foam-type filter. What the purpose of it was became speculation. So, if you find that one, you might want to clean it and put it back.

Wulfman - I did find a foam packer when I took the plate off, that was all clogged and had a bit of fungus on it. I cleaned that in white vinegar too.
