Fix for a seam on chin of chinstrap??

Post by SleepingUgly » Tue May 25, 2010 7:17 am

This chinstrap has a seam in the middle of the chin, which you can even see in this picture:

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/cardin ... strap.html

My leak rate was amazingly low last night with this chin strap so I don't want to abandon it, but my chin is hurting still 4 hours after removing the mask. (BTW, Is my mask not venting?? How can I have a leak rate of 2.4 with the Activa LT mask at a pressure range of 9-13?).

Does anyone have a fix for this seam issue?

could you possibly just lay a folded-over piece of cotton fabric under it, or some other very soft material. Make sure the material lays flat and goes well beyond the seam in the chin strap. I wonder why they put a seam there?? You might also check out the covers they make for various masks/tubes/headgear. Something might work. I forget the name of them, but lots of people use them here.

molefoam? it is like moleskin except usually a little thicker - foot area Dr Scholls stuff - comes in rectangles you can cut to shape

you can look at other foot cushion products while you are there to see - been a while since I looked for anything

I'm not sure if there's a difference between the lining material and the outside, but if not, why not just turn the whole thing inside out so the seam is on the outside? It may not look pretty, but you'll (hopefully) be asleep.

Unfortunately the crazy zig-zag seam goes all the way through.

Your insurance should pay for a replacement every so often. You may want to check into that. Otherwise, a good ole needle and thread may mend your troubles.

I can't... It's so weird, but something about the black background and the white letters is making my brain do flip flops.
