H5i damage furniture underneath?

Post by cpapguy1977 » Sun May 23, 2010 10:51 pm

Just wondering if anybody has had any problems with the bottom of the H5i getting too hot and damaging the furniture underneath. Mine hasn't...yet. I've picked it up after it's been running for a while and it's quite warm (almost hot) - I'm talking the underside of the unit and I'm afraid it's going to damage my beautiful new wooden night stand. Anybody had any issues like this? Is it safe to put on top of a cloth or something to "protect" the furniture???

TIA!

I put mine on top of a large thin book which has a hard shiny cover.
I also tied it to the table so in case I pulled the tubing too hard or flew out of bed suddenly and yanked it,
it would not land on our tile floor and smash into a million expensive pieces

Not the same humidifier, but the wood on my nightstand has a large area where the finish is damaged, and I usually use it in passover or only on 1. No leaks either. Wish I had set my machine on a thick rubber mousepad sooner.

I would use something that has better heat dissipation. Maybe an aluminum baking tray turned upside down. That would give you a thermal break as well. A silicone mat might work as well but I don't know about heat transfer through it. Just don't use cloth or paper products.
