ok.... how do i get an avatar to show up?

You have to make sure it fits the prescribed dimensions and file size. Then uploading it will work (took me four tries the other day, so I understand ).

The Avatar cannot be more than 6 kbs. in size and no larger than 80 x 80 pixels in height and width. Once you have a photo within those parameters, you go to your profile, scroll down to where it says "Avatar Control Panel," and hit the "Browse" button. Find and choose the photo on your computer and then scroll all the way to the bottom of the profile page and hit "Submit." If it worked, after a few seconds, your page will reload and say that your profile has been successfully updated. If it didn't work, it will tell you why.
