Does Higher pressure stop snoring?
Just curious if higher pressure with your machine reduces snoring tendencies?
I have a new machine too, 420E, and I have gone two days with a cool 17 hours use, 2 hours compliance. I have watched after 15 minutes to see the compliance symbol show, went to bed and nothing last night.
Now, My wife says I snore even with the mask, which is a full face Mirage Quattro.
Any suggestions. Yes I have searched, and the search engine provides thousands of related issues. None specific.

There's no specific correlation, only that using Cpap in general is very likely to lessen, if not end, most snoring, but there are people who have built-in nasal problems like oversize turbinates, etc. that just need addressing from a 'mechanical' standpoint, or surgery, and you need to see your ENT MD to get it checked, though you might also just wait a while and get your Cpap all working properly on a consistent basis and see if it helps.

Definitely train yourself to sleep on your side. My husband always snored when he turned on his back(and had more apneas). He doesn't do that anymore and rarely snores now.Steves396lt1 wrote:I have had 2 surgery's for turbulators/deviated septum.

Well things are going much better with a new pillow, and sleeping on my side.
I have been getting 4-6 hours a night of compliance. The machine is weird though. You can get the hour meter to be right on every night, but the compliance meter doesnt necessarily update till the next night sometimes. For example, it will say you only got a couple hours one night, then the next night it will show twice as much as if it has to meet more criteria to update. Does this make sense?

Do you have the silverlining software for your 420E? If you sleep past noon, the numbers can get screwed up sometimes, as noon is the cutoff between different sleep sessions..
Your profile shows the 420G, which gives nothing but the blower hours and the compliance hours (which are useless).

Re: Does Higher pressure stop snoring?
Just wondering if upgrading to a APAP machine might be beneficial? I use one and (like most I assume) if has a (for want of a better word) built-in "snore detector" that simply increases the pressure until snoring stops. Until I became a "hose head" I was one of those who could keep people at the other end of the hose awake (through several closed doors) - now that I've been on the APAP machine for a couple of years I asked my partner "how my snoring was these days" ... she said "what snoring"
Re: Does Higher pressure stop snoring?
I sure hope so because my wife told me that although my snoring is not as severe I still have it. I hope that is resolved when I go in monday for a follow up appt. My ahi and ai levels have been high so wheni get them in line i hope the snoring will also be adressed.

Yes, if you are snoring, you are under-titrated.

Do you have a "plan of attack" for that appointment, to make sure you make the most of it?pdean44 wrote:I sure hope so because my wife told me that although my snoring is not as severe I still have it. Re: Does Higher pressure stop snoring?
I can change it to APAP, simple setting change. Will this affect compliance?Colin Southern wrote:Just wondering if upgrading to a APAP machine might be beneficial?
