Maybe we have been hacked... But there only seems to be a few of us with the reverting-avatar problem. I noticed my old smoking chimp avatar yesterday and promptly changed back to my most recent avatar. Then when I checked this morning, my old smoking chimp was back again...

Well, I haven't started any threads, but my old smoking chimp avatar still managed to take over twice----like an alter ego out of control. Pass the cigarettes and bananas please...

I was just being "funny" with the hacked reference. It's more probable that there was a slight "glitch" in the system.

Of course we coulda been HACKED

I just intentionally reverted back to my old smoking monkey avatar. Who knows what avatar I'll soon discover instead...

P.S. I can see the message board lost the ability to host animated-GIF avatars for those of us affected. That smoke coming out of the monkey's cigarette is and was animated smoke. Yet directly above Rooster manages to choke his chicken in vivid animation.

1) completely deleted my smoking chimp avatar,
2) verified that my posts appeared with no avatar as a result,
3) re-uploaded my animated-GIF smoking monkey avatar (after 1st verifying the animation still works locally on C-drive) , and
4) checked online, only to see the animation feature is still broken for me.

That's the same animated GIF file that used to produce smoke motion as my former avatar here. I honestly don't care that the animation feature doesn't work for my avatars. But I'll leave that avatar in place just in case you decide to investigate further. Drop me a PM if you want me to perform any additional avatar experiments. Again, I'm content with static avatars...

1) Downloaded Rooster's hilarious animated chicken avatar (kudos, Rooster),
2) Verified Rooster's avatar's animation works locally on my C-drive (it works just fine locally),
3) uploaded that same animated-GIF using the control panel here, and
4) observed that the animated GIF works fine for Rooster's account but does not work for mine.

Trouble is that I don't remember how to get an avatar on the forum! I did it a long time ago with some help from jnk.
