No. Your DME can give you one, according to your insurance guidlines. They should be able to give you a sheet telling you how often you get new supplies - masks, mask cushions, etc

You can find the baseline leak rate for each mask at each pressure at the ResMed site. The Encore software can report either total leak - 40ml, etc. - or you can have it report only leaks above the "baseline", with the baseline reported as 0.

You may be headed for a more sophisticated machine - like an ASV - to help treat the periodic breathing. If so, get one ASAP (once you have figured out leaks, etc.). After just over 11 days on the right machine, I am feeling better than I have in 12+ years! That was after 4 months of limited progress on a CPAP.

Poor sleep is a stressor on all systems. Improving your health through correct sleep apnea treatment may help your whole system to respond better to other treatments. We can only hope ....

If you want to pursue that line if thought further, there is an older book by Hans Seyle call "The Stress of Life" where he talks about how all stressors - poor diet, air pollution, etc. - are cumulative on the general level in our bodies. He us the one who " invented" the concept of stress. His definition of it and discussion is broader than what most people think of when they hear the work "stress.". He also talks about the importance of rest - meditation, yoga, and of course sleep.

Good luck!
Best,
Michael

Now I am getting a little more confused. ResMed shows that vent leakage for the mask I am using is around 40 LPM. If this is the case, then my additional leakage and mouth breathing is only adding about 2 LPM. Am I understanding this right?

Correct!

I haven't looked at your graphs in detail. But if your numbers are only a little above thre ResMed "baseline" leak numbers, there is not much to worry about.

If it is easier for you to read, you can switch the Encore software to report that 40 LPM baseline as "0". The ResMed software reports it that way by default, so folks may be reading your reports that way and thinking the 40 is high.

Because you will alway sget a "massive" leak when you take the mask off without turning off the machine, the maximuk can be misleading. The average and 90% or 95% can be more useful.

For example, this morning in my ResMed, summary, my "median" leak was 0, and my 95th percentile was 5. So even though my maximum was 120, that didn't really reflect my overall leak experience for teh night. The median and 95th percentile were much more accurate - very littel leak and an excellent night.

This is what I see on the ResMed site for the Swift FX:

Pressure Flow
12 37
16 43

Good luck!

I'd go get that chin strap and see what happens. Although your AVERAGE is 42, which is OK, it's the spikes on that leak line that are the problem. A fairly straight line with that average would be fine, but that is not what you have.

The feature on Encore 2.2 to set the baseline leak level for your mask sounds cool; I haven't tried it. That might help you to see the leak issue more readily. Good luck.

I have a question about the waveform report. I use the same equipment and get the waveform reports. I see the pattern changes and the pressure pulses, CAs, OAs, etc. but don't understand the measurement labels on the left.

The waveforms are labelled on the left with this information:
60 1 pm
0 1 pm
-60 1 pm

60/-60 what?
1pm? not the time so what does it stand for?

Thanks for your help.

Chel

I believe it is 60/0/-60 lpm (liters per minute) of air flow.
