first night with the zeo

Post by coreyg » Fri Apr 09, 2010 11:51 am

I got my new zeo sleep coach in the mail yesterday. The packaging is a bit too much marketing for my tastes but they did include an extra sensor. They say it wears out after a while. I'm not sure how long it's supposed to last, I'll have to check on that. The sensor was a surprise to me. It's cloth with some type of coating on it. I assume the coating in conductive and it kind of makes sense to me, that a piece of metal there would probably be uncomfortable as well as likely to either bend or jab the person. Another positive surprise (to me) was the "alarm clock" part does show a graph of the current/previous night. It's not pretty like the on-line graphs but it shows the different levels of sleep and it looks like it has about a 10 minute granularity. The headband was a little smaller than I was expecting from the pictures but I've never seen the infomercial which I assume would have given me a better idea on size.

I use a Quattro FFM so I wasn't too sure if it'd fit since it has a headrest. I adjusted the Quattro a little lower than normal to squeeze in the zeo above it. It looked like it might work. The "alarm clock" part looked like it was receiving the signal ok. There are symbols that pop up that indicate if it's receiving "brain waves" or just the headband alone. So, off to bed. I had the "alarm clock" at the foot of the bed because I'm not sure how far the wireless part can work. I'll test that out this weekend to see. During the night, the Quattro was shifting fairly often to it's "normal" resting point which sort of pushed the zeo up into my hair. I was afraid that would mess up the reading and I was right. When I got up, I looked at the "alarm clock" and it looked like it had a graph of sleep modes throughout the night. It showed I was in REM sleep twice (very short periods) and mostly awake for the past 2 hours (my kitten has discovered that if she walks on top of me in the morning before I wake up, that she gets petted and she did that for a fairly long time this morning, probably at least an hour off and on). So, I was pretty excited since the data seemed to match what I thought I'd gotten during the night. I put the zeo back in it's charging base and the graph disappears and tells me “Incomplete Data” and to look at their FAQ. So, I look at their FAQ and it says it means the zeo wasn't able to measure at least 25% of the night and it looks like it considers the night a failure. I'm not sure how much of the graph I saw was real and whether or not I can get at it again. I'll try uploading the data to their website to see if it'll tell me more.

I was half expecting the mask conflict so I'm not too surprised by that. I'm now looking for a mask without the headrest so I can at least experiment. I do have an extra Quattro head band and I'm considering trying to remove part of it and see if I can attached it directly to the zeo so it'll rest on top of it. I have no idea if that'll work.

So far, everything looks pretty well made. My only complaint so far is the packaging looks too "glossy" but that's not really fair to it.

EDITED: Post deleted.

Whoops. Responded to the wrong thread.

Best wishes with your treatment nonetheless.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
