Good Morning!
My first night using cpap was pretty successful. Went to bed at 10pm, asleep by 11pm, and woke up due to a sore nose at 5am. Six hours of sleep and I'm feeling really good. My knees feel much better, I'm awake and actually having a cup of coffee because it tastes good, as opposed to needing it to wake up.
There is only one problem. The bridge of my nose. It's not nearly as bad as after the sleep study. The welt that the sleep study caused still isn't healed AND now it's pretty irritated. I don't think it'd be nearly this bad if the welt had already healed. I've read the post about REM-Zzz's and that you can cut up a T-shirt for very similar results, which I plan on doing tonight.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help out a very sensitive irritated nose?
Thank you,
KL

A few quick things I can think of:KarmicLynx wrote:Good Morning! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help out a very sensitive irritated nose?
Thank you, KL
1) check your mask tightness, it may be too tight. Tip: turn on the cpap, and loosen up the straps so that it just starts leaking, and pull the straps one "notch" past where it starts leaking, then move around, lay down to confirm that it's set right.
2) Band-Aid and Neosporin - helped me out a lot (mine was bleeding with a small cut)
3) Time heals all wounds - Over time it got a lot better as the bridge part where the mask rubbed got used to it.
I recently switched up from a Nasal Mask to a Pillow mask (which I didn't think I could use), and found it's better with leaks, and better overall. Might be something to think about.
Congrats, and may your AHI always be low!

Although I haven't used the FF mask from F & P... I find that F & P masks all hit the bridge a little low unless you go to the wider sizes. But I really like mine for seal and comfort.
I wear it pretty loose on the top straps... and a little tighter on the lower straps. The air gets in behind the silicone and creates a better seal than you'd think.

That is very funny. As yesterday was my first night with my S9 and I had the same results. My nose is killing me. I am at work right now and have a little headace due to the pressure on the nose. I think my issue was that my mask was to small. I am going to the DME at lunch time and going to try to get a bigger mask. Maybe even a different one.
